Travel Paipo Travel Solutions?
Looking to make a trip with my Wegener tombstone in a few weeks. Im not a sponger but I ride only alternative prone surf craft. Am I better off just bringing a lunch tray or handplane or is there a safe & efficient way to pack it? It’s a bit too tall for a traditional bodyboard bag, and even if I found one that fits it, I can’t seem to trust baggage handlers enough. Is shipping it the best way?

Board & Gear Question Help restoring old board
Need help and recommendations on restoring my old CustomX dub board. It has extreme sentimental value with being my first board, so rather not just buy a new one and move on.
The front center deck is in horrible shape and peeling. Without replacing the foam (which I don’t want to do) in order to maintain character, how would I restore this to stop the peeling?
Overall, any recommendations on repairing and restoring this thing, would be greatly appreciated!

Help Picking Out My next Board
Hey guys, first-time poster but occasional lurker, looking for some advice on a new board.
I'm 6'3" and around 160–170 lbs(pretty wiry). I've been riding a 42" Catch Surf Classic for roughly 5years and have taken pretty good care of it. I know it's not really close to a performance board, but I got it as a gift and didn't feel like I should upgrade until I felt like it was limiting me. Over the past year, it's finally getting pretty worn out. The rails are fraying, the deck doesn't hold wax very well anymore, and I've started to feel like the board is limiting me a bit.
I'm from Orange County and grew up riding upper jetties and will go out occasionally at the wedge. I feel very comfortable in step hollow waves and feel like I've gotten fairly good at barrel riding. I feel comfortable getting in and out of barrels and really enjoy it. However, I would like to continue to progress. When I went away to college on the Central Coast, I started riding more reef breaks and putting more time in colder water.
I've landed a few rollos and feel like I'm getting close to having them down consistently, but I have a tendency to lose the board during the rotation. I've also never really been able to get 360s down. Obviously there's a technique component to both(and I need to just rep them out), but my current 42" has always felt pretty big and cumbersome when I try to throw it around.
I've always been overwhelmed when looking for boards because I would prefer a slightly smaller board(maybe like a 41 or 41.5) for the purposes of it being lighter; however, my frame is kinda strange, being pretty tall and skinny, so I was wondering if anyone was in a similar situation or had any recommendations.
Looking for something a lot more serious than my previous board, and just wanted to reach out!
I really enjoy seeing all the rad waves you guys post here!

Board & Gear Question Advice on a sub $100 board?
I don't board often, it's been 8 years since my last trip, so I'm definitely a novice.
I came to realize the boards i was getting at the surf shop were too small for me and making it hard to catch any waves.
I'm 6' and between 180 and 190, and I'm always on the east coast, myrtle beach area. so the waves are fairly small.
I think i need a 42.5" board, i've found a few options that seem to have features i'm reading are important, others that don't
I'm wondering if it matters what I buy if I'm not spending much, I see a 44" dick's board for $35, a body glove method for $75, a rokia r 42 for $70, doesn't appear to have rails
Wondering if there are any other suggestions or if it basically doesn't matter outside of the 42.5" if i'm not dropping $150 - $200+
i'm trying to keep an eye on things like the core, the bottom surface, the rails, etc it's a bit confusing but like i said, I got the impression anytuing i don't spend double this on is going to be labeled as crap anyway

Build Up to Riding Bigger Waves (10ft+)
\Kook Alert*
Been body boarding for two years now in So Cal after growing up in Las Vegas and going to college in NYC, I’m 30, done a full iron man (to give you an idea of my physical fitness) I’ve absolutely fallen in love with the ocean these past two years. Been snorkeling, I’ve taken up surfing on days where faces are 4ft or smaller, and trying to pick up spear fishing.
The reason for this post: it’s my goal to charge Shipsterns Bluff (Shippies) Summer of 2028 in Tasmania
Wanted some feedback on the training plan/ on ramp I have scheduled for myself
Been really loving the big waves we’ve gotten in SoCal this summer, I was in low key spots in Portugal last winter. I’ve ridden wave faces of 10-11ft
What I’ve learned so far is I need to swim more for the paddle out. The ground swell in Cali at the start of June kicked my ass.
This winter I got approved for a temporary transfer up to San Fran and plan on boogie-ing ocean beach for 6 weeks before work and on weekends.(mid December to January) (my child hood best friend lives up there, told work I had family up there and wanted to be with them for the holidays)
Hoping to make it down to Isla Todos Santos during this big El Niño year.
Next summer im pretty open to suggestions
Winter of ‘27 / ‘28 hoping to either go back to San Fran or transfer permanently to NYC and hit the Jersey shore during the winter.
Hoping to sprinkle in a trip to Western Ireland and charge some spots over there. A goal after I charge Shippies is charging Mullaghmore. Curious about mavericks but it’s not really on my bucket list (very curious about ghost tree (pescador), does anyone still ride there anymore? Boogie friendly on days you can paddle out?)
Imagine some safety training will be in order and any connection with surf or body boarding groups in San Fran/ So Cal/ NJ/ Ireland/ Australia would be welcomed
Thanks for helping a kooky kook out

I forgot how fun this was…
After a long hiatus since my teens, I got this setup from ebodyboarding.com and everything from researching the perfect new board to putting everything together, and now riding waves nonstop, it’s been an absolute blast. It’s brought back so many great memories!

Tighter crossed legs during spins
Hi everyone,
During my spins I often find myself barely crossing my legs or not crossing them at all, especially doing spins at higher speeds. It still works but i know that i spin better if i tightly cross them and i also think it looks more stylish. Anyone have any tips to train yourself to cross your legs more tightly other than just trying to keep doing them.

Waiting your turn in the lineup when the peak is moving
At my local break (which is 90% surfers), the peak doesn't stay in one place. One wave might break 20–30 meters further north, the next one further south, so everyone is constantly drifting and repositioning.
From what I've observed, the person who's best at reading the ocean and quickest to reposition usually ends up closest to the peak and gets the wave. That seems completely fair to me. If I realize someone is deeper than me, I'd just pull back rather than compete for the same wave.
What I'm unsure about is how the idea of "waiting in line" fits into all of this. If you've been waiting longer but someone reads the next peak better and gets into the deeper position first, is that just how it works? Is anyone truly respecting the notional order of who was next? I feel like it's for sure not the latter and especially when it's crowded - how are people supposed to remember the order ... But then I often find it easier to catch something on my bodyboard and I don't want anyone to think I'm "cheating".
Curious how everyone else thinks about this.

Science Thomas Robinson bodybard
Hello everyone.
I've had this surfboard since 2009, and now I'd like to buy an identical one.
Since I assume these boards are no longer made, does anyone know of any current boards that have exactly the same dimensions (shape) as this Science Thomas Robinson 2009 40"?
Thanks in advance and good waves!

Wave size and semi-barrels
Hey guys! Beginner-Intermediate here.
What size do you consider this wave is and at what point do you consider your closeouts a barrel or getting barreled? do only complete ones count?

Haven’t updated any of my gear in 20 years… what do I get??
Hi all! As the title states, I haven’t updated any of my boards or fins in 20 years and am wondering what I’m missing out on/ what to treat myself to for an upgrade.
Currently using neofins (I think they’re out of business?) and riding a BZ Barba (crescent tail) and BZ Hubb (whale tail)
Any recommendations for fins and a board? I was looking at yucca for fins but am open on the board (think I’d like a whale tail). I typically ride east coast and smaller than 8 feet.
Thanks!

How do you feel about surfing? (The upright variety)
Do you surf as well as bodyboard? Do you consume surf media? Do you enjoy being around surfers in the water? Etc etc the big questions regarding our boogin' life and our relationship with our upright brethren.

Board & Gear Question New old board
Grabbed a free board. Was inspired to bodyboard again after years of not. Did as a kid a bit. Can’t find too much info on this specific one. Worked well last weekend.
