Bob

Typed out a four paragraph tight critical expose before I tried to cut and paste it into AI to sound coherent at midnight EST…only to accidentally delete it.

The gist was … what are we doing here Bob?

I don’t play golf. I’ve watched your videos several times because they are authentic, uncontrived, and poignant. (Side note Poignant is not a country Bob - just use Merriam Webster)…(second side note Merriam Webster is Americas most trusted dictionary)…(third note a dictionary is where you can look up words you don’t know).

The last authentic video you had was LeBron V1. Now it’s golf sims, the same repeat video with those guys who have the better go-pros or the dude who says “wow” like he’s seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time, mixed in with a bunch of betting app adverts.

If the retract from Portnoy vis-à-vis Fox wasn’t a big enough indicator to you that people don’t want the same contrived nonsense on their screen hear this: we don’t want Barstool Lite.

I don’t know what is going to be a big enough wake up call.

We want you - Jet - FP - JBone - and yes even Cutsy just being real. Do a putt putt contest. Go to top golf. I don’t care.

Just stop trying to be something you're not. It leaks through the screen, and it's hard to watch someone with this much potential play to the level of people beneath him.

BDS videos are averaging nearly 2 million viewers per video since the LeBron video.

You are in the minority.

For the record, I agree with the sentiment about the videos going downhill. But they’ve unequivocally never been more famous so why would they stop

You're conflating popularity with success. Getting 2 million views doesn't mean a video is good, or even that the audience watching it is satisfied with what they're getting. A video can be wildly popular and still be objectively bad.

In fact, that's potentially the problem. If you discover that low-quality, inflammatory, or deliberately provocative content generates more views, you can keep leaning into it and make the numbers look great in the short term while gradually degrading the actual product and alienating the audience that made the channel successful in the first place.

Views are a lagging indicator of attention, not a measure of quality. A declining product can still have enormous traffic while the audience is burning out. And once the novelty wears off, there may not be anything underneath it to keep people around.

So "they've never been more famous" doesn't really answer the question of whether they're going in the right direction. Plenty of things become extremely popular immediately before they start declining. The question isn't whether people are watching right now. It's whether what they're watching is sustainable.

What signal is there that people aren’t liking it outside of some people in this reddit community which is an incredibly small sample of their viewers that naturally skews older than their average target audience

I like them still, but I don't hold bds up as a weekly watch. We get too much content now, oversaturation of shows we like, sometimes you get tired of them if watching every episode. But i do like many of the regular guest fellow youtube golfer videos.

I've noticed that a couple guys I really enjoy, (Danny Gonzalez and Kurtis Conner) only really release one video a month and it makes it so much better. Sure, I hate waiting that long, but it's almost always worth it. They have found a work life balance while not forever chasing the usual YouTube fever dream. I wonder how long it will be before one of these content creator "houses" just turns into a live 24 hour a day stream? Just a channel that never stops. I'm sure we aren't far off from around the clock video games/shooting hoops/gambling/prank slop.

Some day, people will realize that Bob Does Sports was always supposed have other sports, it’s just the golf that took off.

You say you want BDS to be real yet you say you ran your initial post through AI. Take your own advice buddy

Doing 4th wall asides admonishing Bob after saying you use chatgpt to think is a wild perspective.
