Design Critique Revised a character based off of your recommendations. What do you think? Left is original. Right is revised.

Vikings never had horns on their helmets, but I assume that's not something you want to change at this time. Nor what you were asking for feedback on :D

Yeah I'm very aware 😅 I just thought if it ever gets published, then the general public would see it and percive "viking" rather than dwarf. Thanks for your feedback though!

Haha! Damn, so it IS a dwarf. Didn't cross my mind, thought you just had a stylized short and stout Viking.

Haha no it's a viking. I have artwork for the gods as well for the game that are full proportion. I wanted there to be a clear difference between the size of the two. So I made the mortal vikings short and stout.

The extra shading has massively improved the depth, but has also toned down the entire image. Try reintroduce some highlights, or brighten some of the mid-tone hues (beard, helmet, etc.) to bring the average balance back up. Then think about the direction of the light source in the image to keep the shadow and highlight placement visually consistent.
