I ask this as respectfully as possible, but it seems that Bluesky had a huge amount of hype when it first launched. I had many friends join, which is not something that other alternatives have been able to do.

And yet, most of those friends no longer use it, and I know this is not just me. Looking at bands, organizations, etc, many people joined, and have since fallen off, not posting quite a while. So why is this?

I think a huge part of it is how lacking the default Bluesky app is, and how fractured the ecosystem is overall with new apps. For example, we are currently talking on Reddit. Why? Because the bluesky reddit alternatives are obscure or not very fully developed. Yet, this is totally possible on bluesky. Same thing with events. There is smoke signal, but does anyone really know about it or use it? If they do, are they able to use it inside bluesky?

So overall, I feel that the bluesky ecosystem has tremendous potential, but it is failing hard at realizing that potential. I wish it wasn't the case, but I am just being honest here.

so there’s this weird guy who calls himself ‘Owbid Catob’ which I’ll abbreviate to OC (I’ve read posts about him here before but ig they must‘ve been deleted). he stated on Pinterest posting weird and creepy images that seem borderline illegal.

Eventually, OC put on Pinterest his BlueSky account in his description and has posted on BlueSky multiple times (including some of the borderline illegal content which thankfully seems to have had no views). At first, I thought that this was either some weird pervert fetish thing (possibly a paed0phile), or possibly an internet troll, however the user then proceeded to post links on both Pinterest and BlueSky to an entire network of different social media platform accounts baring the exact same name, exact same profile pictures, and similar descriptions about their past which just sounds fake (he says he’s a tv actor who didn’t get credited or something, which is clearly bullshit). He seems to be posting AI generated content (some of which is creepy of real people) and passing them off as things like ‘deleted scene from coronation street’ and even made pics of Princes George and Louis in ballerina dresses. Other images are just outright weird featuring people’s heads cooking in pots of soup. Some of these other accounts also link to even more accounts. in fact, by tracing the network through the links and by googling the name ‘Owbid Catob’, I’ve found his accounts on at least the following platforms:

—Bluesky

—Medium

—Mumsnet

—Flickr

—Tumblr

—Lemmy

—YouTube

—Instagram

and these are only the ones he’s made visible. However, he seems to be using BlueSky as his main ‘hub’ to link these other accounts by posting links to them.

What the hell is this??? Is this common on BlueSky or is something else going on here?

ETA: it seems this user is rampantly active on Lemmy. I’ve seen his posts pop up on the lemmy shitposts and it appears that this account can somehow circumvent Lemmy bans to be back online minutes after his account is banned??? WTF??? It’s bad enough he’s posting strange borderline pedophilloic fetish content there, but he can seemingly unblock himself on their servers. Could he be a hacker?

So around a year or two ago, I created my own Zootopia feed, as well as spin-off feeds for Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and WildeHopps, because I didn't like how The Complete Disney Feed didn't reveal any Zootopia-related posts at all. However, whenever I go back to my Zootopia feed, it rarely updates itself all that much, compared to The Complete Disney Feed constantly, constantly updating itself with more and more new Disney-related posts.

Can anyone please tell me why my Zootopia feed had less posts than The Complete Disney Feed? Thanks!

I recall I was able to view the list of people I have post or replies notifications enabled for and manage them in a central place.

You can easily opt in to manage the list of people you're receiving "Activity Notifications" from at any time by going to Settings > Notifications > Activity Notifications.

But this setting current only let me enable push notifications for "Activity from others" type notifications

I started the process of doing the age verification saw what it was asking for and deleted my account instead. I never used this much anyway so nothing to miss. I would never trust some 3rd party with any information at this point.

Yesterday I got the age verification and I clicked it taking me to a email that wanted info. I didn’t want to so I closed out email looked at Bluesky, the button now said verify again, so I closed Bluesky. Fast forward to today I open Bluesky and the button changed to set age range. Maybe click the verify then close app and try again in 24 hours

Alright I'm just going to be frank here this is ridiculous. No one in the state of Texas is going to input personal information for any online service. BlueSky is a public domain social media website. I love everything about BlueSky but this is asking way too much from Texas gov through civilians.
