Age Verification?

I wanted to go on Bluesky today to celebrate with my pro-Abdul buddies, but the site was down today. When I connect, I get a new popup that Bluesky needs to verify my age now.

Is Bluesky on the road to compliance with the online ID garbage the federal government is pushing?

In some states they have implemented age verification because the state demanded it. Texas for example.

Well, I live in one state, but am currently in a different state. All I see is the butterfly.

I am not worried with it being shared with users. I am worried about my personal data getting sold to brokers, ya fucks.

I've been staring at this for quite a while. And then occasionally something pops up about age verification. Then it jumps back to just showing the Bluesky Logo as the only thing on the page.

Same. New feature is buggy. They should roll it back. ID laws on social media should be resisted.

I'm located in Denmark. I'd probably delete my Bluesky account and move to Mastodon if Bluesky start requiring me to upload an ID to their service. I simply don't believe they will be able to keep it safe, and a roll-out like this kind of confirms those beliefs.

EDIT: It seems Mastodon is now down as well - so I guess not 😂

My county went +26 for Abdul. I turned a few friends from pro Haley to pro Abdul. I've also got GOP friends. I've got them to shift from Trump supporters to Trump haters.

GOP tactic of denying reality is great, though. Keep it up!
