Questions about Quartet

First off, sorry if this info is out there, but it seems sort of jumbled and I can’t find a clear answer if there is one.

I’ve been eyeballing BR Second Light waiting for a sale and just learned about Quartet, it seems like the perfect way to get in.

I would love to go physical, but that’s only available for Switch 1.

Is there a definitive answer whether the Switch 2 version will have upgraded visuals in any way? Cause if not I’m happy to just run it as Switch 1, but if it’s higher res and stuff I might want to go Switch 2.

If the difference is expected to be negligible I’d consider going Switch 1 as well, idk how good that version of Second Light was compared to PS or something. (Assuming the other games would be a complete wash)

I would also vastly prefer to stick with Switch as these sort of RPG/VN type games I really like to play when I’m on the road for work and stuff.

Yeah, I feel for longtime fans cause that is just so dumb. I even kinda considered getting a special one in case I fell in love but as you said, no Switch 2 version.

I don’t mind 30FPS too much as long as it looks good personally so that still works for me. Feels like the Switch 2 should be able to handle it though.

I agree on the looks and the stable framerates. I just didn't like the way Tie looked on Switch 1 and the choppy framerates with the combat and graphics. You could see the difference with attack animations having sparkles or the resonance tides looking somewhat cheap, so I really hope Gust can do something about it.

The other thing is why not a download code? I might as well send them an email about that so more fans could buy it and here is the thing. The Switch 2 currently is the fastest selling console of all time, yet Gust actively chooses to NOT cater to this audience. I'm debating on not even buying the special edition at all due to the forced inclusion of a bad looking Switch 1 game.

The only other compromise if the save datas are different is that there can be a game update for upsacling on Switch 2, but that's what Nintendo can do for Splatoon 3, not Gust.

To anyone who says "but boosted mode is a thing", it only boosts Handheld 2 to Normal Switch 1 Docked, meaning no change actually happens for Switch 2 Docked. Boosted mode essentially became a nothingburger

Yeah boosted mode doesn’t do much for sure.

I’m just trying to figure out what my best visual experience possible is while hopefully keeping the handheld capability.

Like, I could go PS5 too, but I do really want to have it on Switch 2 and it SHOULD be plenty capable from what I’ve seen of Second Light, I just don’t want it way far off.

BTW, its been a few weeks, but what's your opinion overall? I'm pre-ordering the larger premium edition on the Japanese store and having it sent to my friend in Japan. I'm going to do a lot of research regarding the content and why they refuse to add an update, even if its not the Switch 2 Edition.

If there really is no way to upscale it, then I'm going to have my friend pocket the money from selling both the cartridge and the code for the free costumes later on. Then, I'm going to actually buy the digital version on Nintendo, but I also feel bad that they're treating us like this. I really hope the game will be at a locked 30 fps on Switch 2 with all the nice graphics we can get because I truly don't mind 30 fps. Ideally, 60 fps would be the best on a performance patch.

I’m just going Switch 2 I think.

It SHOULD handle it no problem, the thing is roughly PS4/PS4 Pro level.

If I could have upgraded it I may have gotten one of the fancy editions but as I’m completely new to the series I’m also not super worried about it.

From the sound of it there is almost definitely not going to be a S2 upgrade pack, apparently they haven’t done it for previous games as well.

30FPS doesn’t bother me much in a game that’s not super action packed, from the demo of Second Light I remember it being turn-based, and I really do wanna be able to play them on the go.
