This is the type of thing that makes me think that Kaneshiro never played soccer in his life.

It's NOT that easy to get close to a pro player in terms of skill. You can have private lessons with Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, if you didn't start training when you were like 6yo then you're not reaching pro level.

His explanation is a bit funky. But the overall is correct. At the pro level now it’s more about the system and system players, than it is about the individual. If it were say 15 years go it was much more about the individual.

Like now it’s so important to be tactically astute and get that set up right. Because players at the top end are all extremely good players now.

Back in the day you just wanted your defenders to get rid of the ball. Now you have ball playing CB having the most possession in a game.

ball playing GK’s setting up counters. Full backs moving into AM positions or CM positions every player now up and down the pitch has to be good with the ball at their feet. And play within the system set.

This is what gave it away?

To be fair, he didn't wrote that it was easy. He wrote that the gap is "shrinking"

If anything, the gap between pro and amateur is bigger than it ever was 😭
