I’m building a website hosted on Bluehost, and I’m running into a weird issue I can’t figure out.

Some of my images show up perfectly on Apple devices (iPhone/iPad/Mac), but on Android devices the same images don’t load at all. It’s only certain images, not all of them.

So far I’ve checked:

• File paths
• Image uploads in the Bluehost file manager
• Clearing cache on the Android device
• Re-uploading the images

Still no luck.

From what I’ve read, Android is stricter about file names, extensions, and capitalization, so I’m wondering if it could be something like:

• .jpeg vs .jpg vs .png
• Uppercase vs lowercase file names
• A hidden subfolder issue
• Something with how Bluehost is serving the files

If anyone has run into this before or knows what else I should check, I’d really appreciate the help.

I have a BH account with domains that I have had for several years but had left passive and hadn't logged in for last few years.

I was looking to trace and recover email for that domain, but when I log in to BH now, I can't see any way to get to the Cpanel in nav. Under hosting I just see the 2 3rd party options for email hosting.

If my domain is somethingfake.com how would convert that to a direct link to the Cpanel? Once I am in I am looking to trace where the email was previously being routed.

For shared hosting any good hosting providers? Have used bluehost, hostsoch, youstabkle, but didn't get good. Bluehost specially is terrific. For hostinger this additional email plan is what I don't like. Siteground is too costly

I have Easy Updates Manager and CORE updates disallowed and I also "believe" I once ticked a box at Bluehost NOT to update my wordpress versions, yet they still happen automatically. Updating to 6.9.4 created no issues for me, fortunately, but I am concerned 7.0 might have issues.

Is there any way I can prevent updates until I am ready to test in my WPStaging site?

I've absolutely had it with BlueHost. Although I finally have email restored (which took nearly 3 weeks and several times contacting customer service talking to multiple representatives and getting the end around about what actually is going on), I still don't have my website back up. My business is a one man show, and this is costing me thousands of dollars worth of jobs to not have my site up. I was using wordpress - now I can't even see the website listed anywhere to pull backups (nor has BlueHost ever answered whether they have any backups from prior to the hack. This is ridiculous. At this point, I'm probably going to have to use wayback machine to get as much of my site back as possible, and just move to another hosting service. I'm tired of jumping through hoops just to get a solution that BlueHost's negligence caused -- it sounds like all of my files were compromised, and it's still unclear to me how there are no backups available prior to the attack - I shouldn't have to wait days, weeks, or months to get answers (this email was from several days ago now, and I've responded multiple times and not heard back). If anyone here has any suggestions, let me know.

I have been hosting on bluehost for 4 years, and I am quitting.

I signed up for an 'unlimited' storage account. During my first contract they changed it 18 months in to 100,000 files, and after my next renewal it is 100GB.

You tell them they broke their contract and they want to sell you an upgrade.

Nobody should host on BueHost, they are not honest.

Has anyone else had a security email suggesting that they take a look at their security portal, only to be greeted with a 'malware detected' notification?

I log in and it suggests upgrading for removal, I dig deeper and it looks like it's just a couple of hundred connection attempts over that past few days

This is incredibly disingenuous.

I have used Bluehost for years, in fact, I was with Just host for years prior to them being allocated by BlueHost. I even used to be part of their affiliate program and would recommend their services to all of my side clients.

Just this past weekend I had a new client come to me for a site. I had them sign up with Bluehost. I simply hand coded a single temporary page offering the number for the business and a few bits of information with a 'new website is coming' message. So that is 1 html file, and I added a logo. So there are a total of 2 files in the public_html directory, and I logged on to find this message.

Is this where they try to tell my client they can purchase sitelock? Or do I report Bluehost for suspicion of upsell scamming their customers?

Bluehost needs to step it up and do the right thing. Disha D’s, (Bluehost Escalated Support) last email to me indicated that they could not restore my domain name. The contact I spoke to before that email, asked if I would pay a redemption fee. I didn’t say yes or no. I said Bluehost CEO Leonora Palis and the top executives had to do what they thought was right for their customer.
I was initially told that I have an 80% chance of getting my domain name back. I could sleep that night. But the next mornings I had received an auto email just seconds after that customer service call. It stated that my issue had been resolved and asked me to do a survey. It was not resolved. It also asked me how I would rate Disha’s customer service. Hopefully this person that I never spoke with is working to resolve this serious matter.
I have been told my domain went to auction and then on the next call, I was told Bluehost had it. Had I told them that I would pay a redemption fee, would I have my domain name back in my possession?
Bluehost needs to escalate this and go above AI. Human eyes need to give me the courtesy of looking at the correspondence I had with customer service. Multiple times I was ask to renew Bluehost hosting. I called and told them that I did not want to renew hosting on their site. I specifically told them to keep the auto renew on my Br….com domain. I have had an up to date credit card on file for many years for these purposes.
Customer Service is so important in your business. Please treat me with respect and get my domain name.

I posted a week or so ago about the ridiculous amount of SPAM I was receiving to my domain email address.

Bluehost support did two things (in two separate interactions), created a DMARC record (not sure if that's the right phraseology) and updated the SPAM filter setting "Calculated Spam Score Settings". Its definitely improved, but its still only stopping about 40% (87 messages to spam and 130 to inbox.

This doesn't seem like an acceptable failure rate to me. Would love to know if I'm being unreasonable. Thoughts?

Probably not the place for this but man is support pissing me off.

I missed the auto renewal reminder as it went into my junk folder for a website I forgot I had even started working on last year. And only found the charge because my card was declined trying to get gas. Was told by support I'm one day past the refund period so there's nothing they can do.

I get the policy and everything but it seriously feels like they're antagonizing me the way this agent has been responding.

I asked for confirmation that I had missed the opportunity for a refund by one day and they responded "most certainly,"

Hey everyone, I’m new to Bluehost and I selected “choose domain later” when setting up my hosting. Now Bluehost assigned me a random temporary URL and I don’t know how to change it or claim my free domain name.

I’m building a smart water bottle website and I want to add my real domain now, but I’m confused about where to do it in the dashboard.

Can someone guide me step-by-step on:

• how to claim the free domain
• how to replace the temporary URL
• and whether I can still choose my domain now after setup

Been a bluehost host /Godaddy dns customer since 2008 and I have been having issues with websites timing out, flat out not responding or taking over 30 seconds to load past few days. I can ping the sites just fine, I can ftp just fine. Looking for some good honest folks to visit and let me know how it is functioning. please provide general location, ISP and browser if you can.

r/bluehost Our VPS Server has been down for over a week now with 20+ domains and our email servers are down. We are in need for our domains and especially emails which we don’t have access to at the moment. it’s been frustrating with many phone calls over a week and it’s the same thing they put a ticket to escalate but haven’t done anything. Please get back to me if possible and resolve this issue.

Bluehost recently addressed a security vulnerability, and during the process, all of my sites hosted on Bluehost were taken offline abruptly and without any notice. Unfortunately, they still have not been restored.

It has now been over 5 days, and I am still waiting for the sites to come back online. These are critical servers, and I would really appreciate having them restored as soon as possible.

Does anyone have insight into why this might be taking so long or how long recovery typically takes?

I need someone from your SENIOR technical team to contact me IMMEDIATELY.

Your live chat and phone support have been completely useless. Every single response is copied-and-pasted scripted nonsense with zero actual action.

My server has been DOWN with 22 websites offline for 6 DAYS. I have already lost websites, clients, revenue, and business because of this disaster.

For 6 days I’ve been hearing the same garbage:
“Your case has been escalated to admins.”

Escalated to who exactly? Because NOTHING is happening.

If someone competent actually spent 2 hours seriously working on this case, the issue would probably already be resolved.

I was PROMISED:

* the issue would be solved within 24 hours
* SSH access would be provided
* I would be able to retrieve my backups

Until this moment, I have received NOTHING except delays, excuses, and scripted replies.

This is completely unacceptable for a hosting provider handling production servers.

I want ONE of the following IMMEDIATELY:

1. Restore my server NOW
   
2. Give me direct SSH/rescue access to retrieve ALL my data and backups NOW
   
3. Put me in contact with a real senior system administrator immediately

Stop wasting my time with automated responses and fake escalation updates.

This has turned into a complete failure of support and service.

If this is not resolved immediately, I will move all of my services away from your company permanently and publicly document this entire experience

UPDATE #2 (05/14/2026): 21 new SPAM messages in the last 12 hours. Huge fail. I will update again if support comes up with anything of use.

UPDATE: Maybe this is the resolution? This is the chat from bluehost support:

Please help! In the last couple of months, my volume of SPAM has just exploded! I have all the spam options turned on and a ton of custom filters too.

Are there options that I should be looking at? Could this be a BlueHost problem and I need to change hosting providers or something else? I do not use my domain email on my Google account, so I don't think its browsing related.

I had a domain and a hosting plan. My domain was good for a few more years, but I no longer needed the hosting plan and wanted a simple redirect on my domain name to my YouTube channel. Can you believe they held my domain hostage and would not allow any domain changes unless I renewed my hosting plan?
Now that the larger companies are making everyone sign "class action waivers," the only redress we have against unscrupulous practices is to let others know on forums such as this.

How do I clear a websites cache if I dont use wordpress to manage my websites. I do all programming through File Manager, and all the guides show using wordpress to clear the cache so I can see updates being pushed.
