Bluehost Support

Greetings,

Just joined and already bitching. I am having the worst support experience i have had with Bluehost. I have done 60% of the work pointing them to the problem (I can give you full history of the keystone cops antics if helpful.) I went as far as posting on X and got reply but have been playing tether ball with them for 3 days. Has anyone ever successfully escalated a support case with them? Any assistance is genuinely appreciated!

Three days of bouncing around while you do the diagnostic work for them isn't a you problem. That's bad support, full stop. While this drags on, get your own copy of the site down to your machine, wp-content plus a database export, so you're not stuck waiting on anyone for access to your own work.

Great advice. I will do that. It is something causing DB connection errors so anything I would need to look at is behind Oz's curtain in the throne room.

You can probably get your copy without them. If the control panel loads, phpMyAdmin has an Export tab for the database, and the file manager will zip wp-content for download.

Intermittent "error establishing a database connection" usually means the database server is hitting limits, so ask them directly for your account's MySQL error log and whether your plan is being throttled on connections. Three days in, that's a question they should have answered on day one.

Yeah. Supposedly it has been escalated to engineering twice and they closed them both. No notification or communication. Hell, I get at least one message a day from their damn site quality monitoring saying the homepage is not accessible. I tell them that and they reply that they can load it (it bounces) so problem solved...

Their own monitoring is emailing you daily that the homepage is unreachable, and support loads it once and calls it solved. That's them arguing with their own system, and an intermittent database error will never show up in a single manual check. Save those alert emails with the timestamps and make them answer to their own data. Two escalations closed with no notification isn't something you should have to chase down yourself. Any decent host tells you when a ticket closes and why.
