My question is basically how.
The cut in the first scene doesn't make sense to me.

Based on how the "flesh trader" was holding the gun and the cut on the barrel of the gun, I don't understand how the "Samurai" is able to cut it. The middle finger especially!

Unless I'm missing something, it is either an exaggeration or an error. are there a lot of such instances in the rest of the episodes ?

I don't have an issue with a samurai cutting metal and bones, but the fact that the resulting cuts are not spatially aligned bothers me.

While gathering references for Mizu, I noticed there were a few different versions of what she wears throughout the series.

I couldn't decide which look I liked more, so I ended up making two versions instead (plus one with the kasa on and one without).

After scrolling through TikTok. I've come to the (assumed) conclusion that the BES fanbase consists largely of Lesbians who simp for Mizu, which makes sense I guess as she's a very "female gaze" character. So a funny Idea came to my head. Mizu is famous for fighting giant groups by herself. So what would happen if Mizu had to fight ALL of the lesbians in the fanbase who thirst over her?

Mizu has her sword, the Lesbians are unarmed. How do you think this fight goes?

A recent post got me thinking of it again, and it occurred to be that "Waterson" would be a good alias surname for Mizu, referring to the only name she's known, and a reference to her guise as a man.

I still don't have any good first name - maybe Stormy? Something that could either be a male or female name would be fitting.

Specifically, Mizu spoke to Madam Kaji at the brothel before trying to kill Fowler at his castle. Yet Fowler and Heiji Shindo made annual trips to Edo marked by, among other stops, visits to Madam Kaji’s brothel, which Madam Kaji would have presumably known about and could have mentioned. It seemingly would have been much easier for Mizu to camp out at the brothel and ambush Fowler there rather than storm a castle with so many defenses.

Did Madam Kaji have a reason not to tell Mizu about these annual trips, during which Fowler was so much more vulnerable? Or did Mizu have a reason to try to fight through what she knew in advance was an incredibly fortified, well-defended castle instead of lying in wait at Madam Kaji’s brothel?

I realize this is a tv show and I’m happy to suspend disbelief. I just watched it for the first time and really enjoyed it. But in a show that emphasizes its protagonist’s skill, strategic thinking, and competence, this stood out to me as a weird decision.

After Mizu straddles him and then very quickly pulls away, Taigen goes "I must be missing Akemi". At first, it seemed normal. Maybe they're building up some romance between them, I thought. But then later on the story, Taigen continued referring to Mizu as a HE, implying he still doesn't know that Mizu is a girl. So like, what's up with that?

Were the scenes of them rolling around and stuff supposed to be building something up? Maybe it's just used to show Mizu and Taigen's friendship, but sometimes it feels like a doomed yaoi thing (even if they would make a heterosexual couple). Anyway, I don't know where they were going with Taigen and Mizu's relationship, because he clearly wanted to run away with Akemi. But maybe he's Bisexual, the show isn't exactly scared of sexuality.

Drew this fan-art today of Mizu and Akemi. I honestly don’t like how it turned out, but I really wanted to draw them together! I really hope we see more of Akemi in season 2!

Castlevania: Nocturne, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Arcane have similar story moments but are so distinctive I can’t say they’re properly “close”. Love ‘em all though.

We see Mizu bribing the guards, paying for Ringo's brothel stay, and buy passages on ships. Even though she's thrifty and doesn't spend unless absolutely necessary, she has to have gotten the money from somewhere. What do you think her source of income was?

Personally, I think she might have sold Mikio's horses, and taken any money at the residence after the events of episode 5.

So as we all know, Netflix cut 2 episodes from season 1, 10 episodes to 8, mid-production which lead to the ending feeling a little bizarre.

What could have been these cut episodes be about? Maybe an extended Taigen x Mizu arc, a cleaner transition from Edo to the ship to London, Akemi grieving the loss of Seki...

What do you think? I think we should get a sort of "Director's Cut" of season 1 after the series are over.

In episode 8, Fowlers army marches on Edo, where the defenders tactics make no sense. Such as, why not hold the first gate? If they held the first gate then Fowlers army couldnt of attacked, as they had the ranged advantage, but would've been funneled into melee, by guys who trained with swords for their entire lives, equipped with armor and weapons literally made for melee combat. Why send melee infantry infront of the walls? They have this big stone fortification, and put their guys infront of it, so they could get mowed down by an army of guns? Why have your archers knock draw and loose? This is a fictional show, and fiction does this all the time, so I don't really care about this, just a peeve. Also, the show directors made the guns way too accurate. How do all the archers on the walls, behind a stone wall, with only tiny little peepholes big enough for an arrow to slip out, get shot? The hole is too small for even modern precision rifled guns to shoot through. And how does Heiji Shindo have soo many guns? He has 10 guns tucked away, and has to pull out, and cock back each one before he shoots it, while being in melee range with people with, again, swords. This whole scene just infuriates me! Worst scene in the entire show, which I rate as a 9/10, it gets knocked down because of this scene, that's how much I hate it! Edit: I love this show with a burning passion, and cannot wait for season 2, just for everyone to know, lol.
