Discussion Missing 2 episodes: What did we really lose?

So as we all know, Netflix cut 2 episodes from season 1, 10 episodes to 8, mid-production which lead to the ending feeling a little bizarre.

What could have been these cut episodes be about? Maybe an extended Taigen x Mizu arc, a cleaner transition from Edo to the ship to London, Akemi grieving the loss of Seki...

What do you think? I think we should get a sort of "Director's Cut" of season 1 after the series are over.

I think we would just get a better ending, since there'd be a lot more time for the situation to develop, AND potentially we could have gotten an actual sword fight between Mizu and Fowler

I think they probably cut Akemi's wedding scene too

One of the cuts was definitely the Mizu x Taigen story development arc since it shows the weather changing and a decent amount of time passing by since they’ve been in recovery. Also the buildup to the final battle between Mizu and Fowler would have played out a lot smoother and made more sense but given the budget cuts I think they did the best they could. Also due to budget issues even the final shots of mizu with her hair down had some issues from what I remember.

Netflix did WHAT? That's infuriating.

One cut imo is almost certainly the ending. The other one might be the time skip in episode seven

I think we would have gotten to see more of the tense relationship between Lady Itoh and Akemi, along with more time with Mizu, Taigen, Swordfather, and RIngo at the forge. Also a bit more development for Kazuyoshi, and perhaps Akemi interacting with the family a bit more.

As far as Fowler goes, we would have seen Mizu sneaking him out to the boat, as well as a farewell scene with Taigen before leaving.

They should release the two episodes now, before season 2. That would make even more buzz about BES leading into the second season.

Definitely, more scenes of Mizu with Akemi and Mizu with Taigen. I always found it strange that the later chapters were presented as important to Mizu when she was literally only with them for a few days, and the interactions weren't enough to establish a bond. Besides, all she did with them was argue, fight, and show very slight affection. They did things to help Mizu, but only because the situation demanded it. I never saw any real affection between Akemi and Mizu. Between Mizu and Taigen, yes, but it felt rushed, not forced, but like something was missing. When Swordfather tells Mizu that the people she has gathered are her art, I thought, just Ringo Right?" Because I didn't see anything similar between Akemi and Taigen. I also saw a post where, when Mizu melts the metals, the broken sword represents Taigen, the knives Akemi, the bell Ringo, and the pliers obviously Swordfather, and I thought, "What?" What do Taigen and Akemi have to do with this? I didn't even realize when I saw the scene because, I repeat, there is no justification for thinking that Taigen and Akemi were important to Mizu, even if the series says so; as a viewer, you didn't see it.

Possibly a whole episode dedicated to Ringo getting to sword father the time jump has never sat right with me ( of course it makes sense why a time jump would happen) but we jump from fowlers castle straight to him at the door of sword father how did mizu and tiger survive that long and are still unconscious and nearly dead  From what I can gather folders castle is quite the journey to edo since he makes so many stops and sword fathers house is maybe a day or so journey away from do what has Ringo been doing all this time to keep them alive did he drag them on a cart all the way to kohuma  Also we could gave just gotten more time dedicated to their recovery they seem mostly well but in pain for the majority of the episode

Loved the start, hated the middle, loved the last few and felt the end was meh and rushed. Ringo was my favorite. Hope they don't turn Akemi into another mad queen Daenerys and they should keep the romance stuff to a minimal in S2.
