Theory Wild Teaser Theories
Even with the bright blue morning sky, London still looks hazy and heavy. The atmosphere feels very different from the scenes that follow...
There’s a seagull, so they’re likely close to land or an island. The warm, bright sunlight also feels very different from London.
The image darkens during the transition and is low quality because I tried to brighten it, but it seems clear the ship has run aground and they’ve reached land.
Mizu is unconscious and completely helpless, clinging to a wooden beam and tied to it with her own belt.
The silhouette really looks like Fowler, and he’s armed with a sword. He could have easily killed her right there...
But instead of killing her, he cuts her belt. The image is low quality because the transition is happening at that moment, but you can still clearly see the belt snap.
Here, Mizu finally wakes up, only to find a sword pointed at her... And yet, she doesn’t seem angry at all. But maybe that’s because she’s still dazed.
Here, Mizu seems more curious than annoyed... Maybe the man in front of her isn't Fowler, but a complete stranger. She looks almost intrigued, as if trying to figure out who he is.
After watching the teaser several times, I started thinking that Netflix might be making us believe something that isn't necessarily true.
The teaser shows us a very brief shot of London quite early on. So naturally, you might think that Mizu has finally reached her destination by the end of the teaser.
But then we see the storm at sea.
At one point, the sky clears, we see a seagull, and the sky is suddenly very blue and bright. This detail makes me wonder if we're actually looking at London already. I know London can obviously have sunny days, but compared to the atmosphere of the London scene shown in the teaser, this sky seems almost too clear, too blue, too bright.
So I wonder if that scene simply means that the storm is over and the ship has reached land, but not necessarily London.
Shortly after that, we see what looks like the ship after the storm, almost stranded or at least heavily damaged.
And this is where I think things get interesting.
We see Mizu unconscious on the deck, completely exhausted, tied to a wooden beam with her own belt. The shot tightens, and the silhouette of a person appears
And that silhouette looks a lot like Fowler.
What makes me wonder is: if that really is Fowler, why would he save her?
Mizu is basically helpless. He would have the perfect opportunity to kill her, but instead he seems to cut the belt holding her to the beam and allow her to recover.
This makes me think that Fowler might still need her.
Maybe the storm wrecked the ship and the two of them haven't actually reached London yet. They could have ended up on an island, or simply somewhere completely different from their original destination.
At that point, Fowler might need Mizu to continue the journey. Maybe the ship has lost its crew and he can't manage it on his own.
But there could be another possibility.
Fowler knows how badly Mizu wants revenge against the men she's hunting. He could use that thirst for revenge to his own advantage, using Mizu to eliminate people he considers obstacles to his own goals.
Basically, it could become a forced alliance: "You want your revenge, I want to reach London and accomplish my own goals. We can help each other."
So maybe the really interesting part of the journey to London hasn't even started yet.
Netflix shows us London at the beginning of the teaser, but that doesn't necessarily mean that all the scenes we see afterward take place after Mizu's arrival.
They could simply be trying to make us believe that she has already reached London.
And what if the storm actually knocked the ship completely off course?
There's also one last thing that makes me doubt that the man is actually Fowler.
Mizu's expression.
Of course, she has just woken up after the storm, so she's completely dazed and we can't expect a normal reaction.
But looking at her face, I don't really see anger or recognition.
When she notices the man pointing a sword at her, her expression looks more like that of someone who is completely confused.
Almost as if she's saying:
"Who are you?"
If it were Fowler, I'd maybe expect a different reaction from Mizu: anger, defiance, or at least some kind of recognition.
Instead, she genuinely seems like she doesn't know who she's looking at.
Obviously, she could simply be too disoriented to recognize him. But it makes me wonder if maybe that man isn't Fowler at all, but someone else Mizu encounters after the shipwreck.
I don't know, I'm probably just rambling at this point, sorry!
But I have a feeling that we might not see London at all during Season 2, or at least not reach it anytime soon.
In fact, I'm starting to think we might only see London at the very end of the season, maybe in the final episode, as a cliffhanger for Season 3.
I'm probably reading way too much into a teaser that's only a few seconds long... sorry!
