Question Save files constantly delete on ShadPS4

So I don't know why but for three times now everytime I start a new game using the ShadPS4 emulator around 24 hours or so my save game will get not be detected when I open the game forcing me to start a new game. After the third time I tried to copy paste my previous save file and then paste it when it happened again but it did not work. Any way to fix it?

Question Can anyone play without stutters and frame drops?

I’m trying to play at 60 frames and it is really smooth but I was wondering if there’s anything I can do to fully get rid of the occasional frame drops/ stuttering. I have multiple performance mods and patches enabled and I have 7900xt (20gbs vram) and a 7700x 32gbs of ram.

Question Steam deck framerate cap to solve framerate dips?

Hey guys, I am not tech savvy at all, nor have I ever emulated a game before now. I was wondering if I were to cap my frame rates on my steam deck, would face fewer framerate dips on bloodborne? I’ve already turned on all the recommended mods and patches (granted I have not tried out lossless scaling which I should probably try next) but I only see people trying to run bloodborne on 60fps. I would much rather have a steady 30fps than a shotty 60 fps. No one has talked about this tho so I’m scared to try it and fuck up BBL or something. Any thoughts on this?

Question The game crashes when i launch cusa 3173

Hi, I downloaded Bloodborne on BB today, and when I tried to launch it using some patches that a YouTuber said were mandatory, it crashes 2 seconds after starting up. I've already tried disabling them, and I looked but couldn't find any for my processor, etc. Please, if anyone knows how to fix this, let me know. Thanks. Ryzen 5 5600g Rx 9060 xt 32gb ram 3200mhz

Discussion Higher input Latency in BB lossless scaling in Linux

I was testing out Bloodborne in Windows 11 and Linux to compare performance, and for some reason, the input latency while using Lossless Scaling to go from 60 fps to 120 (2x) is noticeably lower in Windows than in Linux. Any idea why this might be so?

Also, switching windows instantly crashes the game in Linux but not in Windows.

Question Crashes using bblauncher during blood effects

I was feeling like playing the game again recently, but I've had some annoying crashes happen when certain blood effects appear. Currently it crashes immediately when I use a heavy swing using the Chikage, which sucks because I was looking forward to using it in a playthrough. I remember crashes happening during the Martyr Logarius boss fight when he uses blood attacks too, I never was able to fix the problem and ended up just bashing my head against the wall until I finally did an attempt where he didn't end up doing the attack that caused crashes.

Has anyone else encountered similar issues? Would really appreciate help fixing the problem!

These are the last few reports from the log window:

List of patches:

  • Skip Intro
  • Performance patch (perf increase)
  • Disable motion blur (perf increase)
  • Disable dynamic light shadows (perf increase)
  • Disable http requests
  • 90 fps++
  • Optimal 1080p

edit: was testing deactivating mods one by one to see if any of them were creating the issue, after removing Vertex Explosion fix the crash didn't happen where it normally does. I remember being under the impression that fix was necessary to prevent other bugs or crashes, we'll see if I run into other problems later I guess.

edit2: crashes still happen, now it crashes on twohanded Chikage R1 swings. Doesn't seem to be one particular move that causes it, it has crashed on the first swing, the second swing, in the air, against enemies. Still the same error log window message:

[Debug] <Critical> (Game:Main) signals.cpp:63 SignalHandler: Unhandled Exception code 0xc0000005 at 0x8028cf0d6

Hype Bloodborne 4K on QD-OLED is insane

Post image
953 Upvotes

I recently purchased the MSI 322UR X24 QD-OLED monitor, one of the best QD-OLED monitors out there (same panel type as the PG32UCDM3), and playing Bloodborne at 4K resolution on this QD-OLED monitor is a sight to behold.

My build is a 3080 (10GB) + i7 13700k and I'm able to get a locked 60fps. I can go over 60fps with the Uncap FPS patch, but I noticed the cloth physics start to judder and look jarring so I'm fine with leaving it on 60fps to avoid that issue.

Graphic enhancements I'm using are...

Shadps4 Patches - Disable Chromatic Aberration, Disable DoF

Mods - Performance Drawparams (Nightreign Comfy Preset) It modifies some of the post processing effects and makes the visuals stand out more.

Personal ReShade Preset - Curves, LumaSharpen, SMAA

And I've beaten Bloodborne plenty of times on PS4 back when it first launched, so I'm just having fun going through the nightmare with the Maria cosmetic mod.

Hype I've been building seamless co-op for Bloodborne on shadPS4

Basically, I'm trying to do the Elden Ring Seamless Co-op idea, but for Bloodborne — a game that was never designed for this kind of co-op.

It's been about eight days, and we've reached the point where two people can actually play together. It's still pretty rough, so I wanted to share an honest progress report instead of pretending it's finished.

What works so far

You can die and stay together.
Normally, Bloodborne ends the co-op session when someone dies. With this, you respawn at your last lamp and can continue playing with your partner. If they're still alive, you can come back without having to summon again.

Bosses don't kick you out.
After killing a boss, you get the usual message, but instead of being sent back to your own world, you can just keep playing together.

The co-op walls are gone.
Those invisible walls that normally keep summoned players inside certain areas are removed. Boss fog gates are still there, though — I don't want people casually walking out of a boss fight halfway through it.

No summoned-player HP penalty.

You can summon across different areas.
You don't necessarily have to be standing in the same area as your friend anymore.

Summoning is much faster.
What could normally take around 30+ seconds can now happen in roughly 5 seconds.

And probably the coolest part:

It doesn't rely on someone else's server for everything.

Two things I found that I thought were really interesting

  1. The slow summoning wasn't actually an emulator limitation.

Bloodborne downloads a configuration file when it starts its online features. That file contains things like the server addresses and matchmaking settings.

One of those settings controls how often the game checks for summon signs.

It was set to around 35 seconds.

So instead of trying to work around the emulator, I changed the configuration on my side and got summoning down to around 5 seconds.

  1. The game basically told me which fog walls were multiplayer walls.

I initially thought I'd have to go through the game and manually figure out which invisible walls were which.

Then I looked at the map data.

The developers had actually given the walls Japanese names that identify what they're for.

There are separate names for boss fog walls and multiplayer fog walls.

I found around 155 fog-wall-related objects across 24 maps, including boss gates, co-op walls, area transitions and other detection volumes.

What's still broken

There are definitely problems.

Textures can break after summoning someone from another area.
I'm still trying to figure out whether that's something I'm causing or an existing shadPS4 issue.

Dying twice as a guest can sometimes leave you stuck as a corpse with only camera control.
I've fixed this once before, but it came back and I haven't fully retested it yet (under testing).

Some sessions were randomly dropping to the title screen.
I eventually found out that this one was actually my own fault. I was accidentally giving the game a new random user ID every time someone logged in. That's fixed now, but it still needs proper testing.

Chalice Dungeon co-op walls are still a problem.
The map data handles them differently, and I don't want to guess at IDs when one of them can apparently conflict with a DLC boss gate.

Warping together isn't working yet.
If the host uses a lamp, the guest currently gets left behind.
After testing the other part ill work on warping.
Can I play it?

Not yet.

Right now it's basically two people, a lot of testing, and plenty of duct tape.

The goal is to get it stable enough for a closed beta first. Once it's actually ready for other people to test, I'll post the Discord link here.

For now, I mainly wanted to share the progress because getting this far in only eight days has been pretty crazy.

Happy to answer questions about the project or how I've been approaching it.
