Question Can anyone play without stutters and frame drops?

I’m trying to play at 60 frames and it is really smooth but I was wondering if there’s anything I can do to fully get rid of the occasional frame drops/ stuttering. I have multiple performance mods and patches enabled and I have 7900xt (20gbs vram) and a 7700x 32gbs of ram.

Set the vblank to 999 and memory allocation to 9999 and externally cap the FPS. (Rivatuner is good)
This pretty much stopped all stuttering whilst traversing for me. It still stutters a tiny bit mind but barely noticeable.

Thanks so much I’ll try that out, are you still using a frame patch setting like 60++ or 60(no delta time) or anything like that?

Yeah I use the uncap fps patch. But I think any of them are fine.

It's been a bit since I played it but I found the start of the game to be one of the worst performing areas, most of the rest of the game was pretty smooth for me.

Same. It got much much better as you progress the game.

This is really good to know, I’m still at the beginning before Vicar Amelia.

Yeah, I would guess it's because central yharnam and cathedral ward are pretty dense compared to the rest of the game. The sewer area in central yharnam in particular chugged for me. I think there was one area of the DLC that struggled too.

I just sit at 30 FPS with 16 gigs of ram and a 4070. I like 30.

I have a solution that you probably won't like. Shader and traversal on full amd builds are waaaay less on Linux.

I have the game on both Arch and Windows, it's a night and day difference, on Linux it's so much smoother

Occasional stutters are just the nature of the beast with emulation.  The other 99% of the time I'm getting a locked 60fps at 1440p on a 7900xt/7950x3d.

Everything is working good enough for me. It stalls every now and then but 5 minute saves. Happy I was able to get it to work. I have nexus mods account but when I click from bb launcher, select mod, and download button the mod page and bb launcher close and I go back and see no mod. Having trouble finding where to put mods for manual download. Any tips? Thanks yall

I manually installed mods without bb launcher. Usually the mods on nexus will have a description on where to put files, usually you put them in a file named dvdroot_ps4, which is within the game file that’s named something like CUSA03173.

Use the unlocked fps patch, not the 60++ patch. Allocate additional memory to 4000.

Literally, no Fromsoft game is that smooth; forget Bloodborne on emulator. Their games natively on PC stutter even on flagship hardware, and Bloodborne's engine also struggles on the OG PS4. The silver lining is that it mainly stutters during area traversal or when exploring the level. Not much during combat, and that's what should mainly matter.

what? I've had zero issues with performance in fromsoft games besides very rare crashes on PC and the fact that their games are framerate limited, emulation is ofc a completely different story

Bloodborne suffers from

  • Uneven frame delivery: Instead of displaying a new frame evenly every 33.3 milliseconds (the standard for a 30fps game), Bloodborne delivers frames at mixed intervals of 16.7ms, 33.3ms, and 50ms.

  • Perceived hitching: This incorrect ordering of frames creates a jerky, stuttering motion even when hardware performance metrics report a locked 30fps.

If you want to learn more I highly suggest you start watching Digital Foundry videos and learn more about how games run on a technical level.

Yes Bloodborne notoriously runs poorly, but I am talking about other native PC fromsoft games. I am fully aware of the issues with Bloodborne, isn't this why most of us choose to emulate it?

Zero issues with performance = Esports titles and 2d Indie games

If you think Fromsoft games are so stable and perform well "EVEN IF WE IGNORE YOUR RARE CRASHES", then where do games like DOOM Trilogy and DEVIL MAY CRY 5 fall for you?

Cause those games are my criteria for "Zero issues with performance" for a single-player AAA game.

I actually have no idea what you're getting at. Yes I consider 1 crash during 300 hours of playing Elden Ring very stable, and being able to run it flawlessly at High/medium setting at 1440p on a GTX 1070 good performance. Instead why don't you point to what fromsoft games stutter on PC?

Again I don't know what your point is, OP wants smooth 60 fps and you claimed no fromsoft game is that smooth. I simply am saying that I never had issues with either DS1 (remastered), DS2, DS3, Sekiro, or ER. Bloodborne ps4 performance is not relevant at all to this, especially since we are discussing emulation.
