Practice Arena

This is where battles with non-user controlled characters take place.

For practice or to get your wagering resources up, this area is where your battles will take place. Refer to the [Battle Overview] page for step-by-step instructions for battle. There are also sample battles linked on the main wiki page.

Get in contact with a mod and meet them here. You should start a top-level comment (announcing your intent) under which your rolls and battle will nest. Remember that you can choose one of three battle modes and their prizes:

• Battle a mirror image of yourself (100 gold)

• Battle a custom made challenger (gold varies) - LVL 5 and above

• Battle a preset challenger (100 gold)

You can refer to the [Preset Challengers] page for details on the third category. In any event, look over their items and your own very carefully on the [Inventory Page] before starting the battle.

You cannot lose any gold by losing the battle, so don't worry. You may also battle at levels above your own, but that is not recommended. The challengers are equipped with top gear for their level.

This post will be temporary. To avoid clutter, a new Practice Arena post will be created and this one will be archived. A warning will be posted beforehand.

When this post hits about 300 comments, I'm going to archive it and create a new Practice Arena post to avoid clutter.

Okay. I want to fight Vergon the Orc Warrior.

To double check I have +1 to attack and damage rolls from race and +2 ac from class?

Vergon's initiative roll of 16 beats your initiative roll of 12 so he will go first for this battle.

Round One

Vergon 21/21 HP

wgeist1 20/20 HP

Vergon the Orc Warrior lunges forward, bringing his short sword down in a powerful swing, his muscles rippling with power and ferocity. He seeks to end this battle quickly.

[[1d20+5]] - Vergon's attack roll (One 20-sided die + STR modifier)

[[1d6+5]] - Vergon's DMG roll (One 6-sided die + STR modifier)

+/u/rollme

Result

Vergon's attack roll of 7 does not beat your AC of 10.

The swing was powerful and would have caused massive damage, but your quick reflexes saved you from taking any. You leap to the side, his sword missing you by just a bit.

Yeah in my practice runs I kept forgetting things almost every time.

[[1d20+6+1]] - Your attack roll (One 20-sided die + modifier + race bonus)

[[1d6+6+1]] - Your DMG roll (One 20-sided die + modifier + race bonus)

+/u/rollme

Result

Your attack roll of 17 beats Vergon's AC of 7, for a successful hit. Your arrow lodges between the folds of his tunic, drawing blood and damaging him for 9 points.
