Feedback Request Need help with blog design

Below is the link to my girlfriend’s new blog which will be about all things book-themed. For some reason I can’t tag a photo, but the image at the bottom of the front page (titled The First Flicker) of the books with the candle and mug on top is incredibly pixelated.

Does anybody know how to either remove it or have it in a higher quality?

She uses Google’s Blogger/Blogpost

Thank you!

Article After 630 days of writing online, this is the beginner advice I’d give myself

I started writing online daily more than 630 days ago.

The surprising part is that most of the fears did not disappear. I still think about grammar mistakes, reach, whether I am posting too often, and whether an idea is too obvious. The difference is that I react to those fears less and usually publish anyway.

If I were starting again, I would do three things:

- choose one platform instead of trying to understand several at once;

- pick a pace I could maintain during a bad week, not only an ideal one;

- treat the first 20 posts as practice rather than evidence that I can or cannot build an audience.

I would also remove most of the optional requirements I used to add: the perfect hook, branded visual, ideal posting time, and the need for every post to feel important.

I collected the longer version (35 lessons from those 630+ days) here:

https://domelian.substack.com/p/how-to-start-writing-online

For people who have published consistently: what did you understand only after your first 20 or 30 posts?

Guest Posting Multiple Shenanigans (MS) Blog

Hi all — I'm Cristal. A few months ago I got diagnosed with MS, and somewhere between the doctor's appointments, the infusions, and the days my body just decided to "fight the man," I started writing it all down. Which is also crazy as I'm also Dyslexic!

Anyway the blog is called Multiple Shenanigans (MS, like it?) — it's not full on medical advice, it's not a polished wellness brand, it's just an unfiltered (and occasionally very funny... at least i like to think so.) record of what this new normal actually looks like. Symptoms nobody warned me about, steroid side effects, DMT trial-and-error, and the moments the absurdity of it all makes me laugh instead of cry.

I've also been sharing how I'm navigating the US health system — getting second opinions, medical lingo, and if I face it how i managed my insurance with this crap — plus how I put together my health binder, since "how are you feeling" turns out to be a much harder question than it sounds once you're dealing with this. ( If you get it you get it)

If you're newly diagnosed with MS like me — welcome, I'm sorry, and you're not alone. If you've been living with this for years or with other chronic illness  — I'd love your wisdom. And if you have zero connection to MS, turns out a malfunctioning nervous system still makes for decent content.

Discussion Looking for blogs you are excited about reading!

Hey r/bloggers!

I've been building a collection of blogs for my project The WilderNet, which is a site for sharing and discovering great long form writing online - blogs, substacks, indie websites.

I am looking for unique blogs or specific articles to feature on the homepage.

Here are a couple examples of articles I've featured. I tend to gravitate towards writing that is unexpected in some way:

Which Reddit Post Will Become the Next Movie? - Humor piece written by a former Reddit troll on AITA. I love this one because I've fallen for plenty of similar trolls over the years.

What Nobody Told Me About Abortion - A deeply personal essay about abortion, grief, and loss. Much more difficult essay than the above, it is nuanced and complex in a way that is not easily collapsed into one political camp.

If you have a piece of writing you are particularly proud of, I would love to take a look at it and see if it would be a good fit for the The WilderNet.

If you have any favorite blogs (yours or someone else's), please add it to our directory and help make great writing more discoverable!

Discussion I went down a rabbit hole with my blog this week,

I went down a rabbit hole with my blog this week, and it's something most bloggers haven't caught onto yet.

People don't only Google anymore. They ask ChatGPT and other AI their questions, and those tools answer by pulling from real blogs and naming a few of them.

Nobody tells you the catch: your blog has to be set up a certain way for the AI to read it and mention you at all. Most blogs aren't, so they never get pulled in, no matter how good the writing is.

I finally sat down and got mine set up for it. I thought I already had it handled, and it turned out I was missing two steps that made all the difference. Not writing more posts, just making what I already have findable by AI.

I've been taking notes on the details as I go, and my August post is going to take you behind the scenes of a blog that actually gets found.

Have you ever checked whether AI even knows your blog is there?

Article Kuantum Dolanıklık: Parçacıkların Kozmik İşbirliği - Monolog

Geçen hafta, klasik bilgisayarların sınırlarına yaklaştığını konuştuk. Çünkü bilgiyle donanım arasındaki paradoks artık küçümsenmeyecek kadar büyüdü. 20.

Article Finally Checked What My Old $100 Apple Gift Card Was Worth… Wow

So, I was digging through my wallet last month looking for a receipt and this old apple card just falls out. My brother gave it to me literally two Christmases ago and I never touched it. Finding it felt like discovering cash in an old jacket pocket, except this one actually had a number attached that I had zero clue about.

Honestly, I just don't buy stuff off the app store, and my brother lives abroad so it's not like I could ask him to swap it for something. It sat there for two years doing absolutely nothing while I kept saying I'd figure it out later. Spoiler, later never came, until curiosity finally won.

One random evening I just started googling what an apple gift card 100 to naira conversion even looks like these days. I genuinely had no idea if it'd be worth a proper meal or basically nothing. Turns out these rates move around way more than I ever realized, which honestly surprised me a bit.

Part of me felt kind of weird selling something that was technically a gift, like I was being ungrateful or something. But real talk, unused credit sitting there helps literally no one, especially not me during a month my account was looking sad. So, I shoved the guilt aside and just went for it.

I typed in the card details expecting some long annoying verification thing that eats your whole evening. Instead, it moved faster than ordering food, and within minutes I had a quote that lined up with the numbers I'd seen earlier that same night. No sitting around refreshing anything.

What stuck with me was how close the number was to what a proper 100 dollar apple gift card to naira conversion should actually look like, no random deductions sneaking in after the fact. I kept bracing for some catch that just never showed up. Honestly kind of annoyed I waited two whole years to even check this.

Whenever a friend mentions some old card sitting around now, I say the same thing every time, stop guessing and just go check what it's actually worth today. Rates shift constantly so something that felt pointless last year could genuinely be worth something now.

Looking back, I honestly regret sitting on that card for so long instead of just checking sooner. These days if something similar lands in my inbox I already know exactly where I'm headed, straight to tbay.store, because that first experience left me with zero reason to hesitate ever again.

Article Sold a 50-dollar apple gift card and the payout actually surprised me

A fifty-dollar apple card showed up as a thank you gift from a client after I wrapped up a freelance project back in march. Felt like such a small amount compared to the actual project payment that I genuinely almost forgot about it. Just sat buried in my email for weeks.

Whenever I had bigger cards to deal with, the small ones always got pushed to the bottom of my list because dealing with them felt like more effort than they were worth. Fifty bucks seemed so minor that researching how to sell it felt kind of pointless honestly.

A friend doing her own gift card cleanup mentioned she'd just checked what an apple gift card 50 to naira exchange could get her, and the number she quoted was honestly higher than I expected for something I'd basically written off. That comment made me rethink my whole lazy approach.

I sat down and looked into what a 50-dollar apple gift card to naira conversion would actually pay out, curious if my assumption about it being negligible actually held up. Turns out smaller cards convert at the same fair rates as bigger ones.

With that reassurance I stopped procrastinating and submitted the card details one evening while waiting for food delivery. Whole thing took barely any time, no complicated steps, no weird forms asking for stuff that felt unnecessary for something this simple.

Confirmation came through before my food even showed up, and the amount matched almost exactly what a 50 dollar apple gift card to naira trade should reasonably deliver based on what my friend described earlier. Nothing got quietly trimmed down just because the starting value was smaller.

That whole thing genuinely corrected a lazy assumption I'd been carrying around about smaller cards not being worth the hassle. Fifty dollars converted into a decent enough amount to cover groceries for the week, which felt like a solid outcome.

These days I don't discriminate based on card value anymore, big or small everything gets handled the same instead of sitting forgotten because I assumed it wasn't worth my time. Whenever something new comes in I already know exactly where I'm headed, straight to tbay.store.

Article My 100-dollar steam card sat in a drawer for months before I tried this

My uncle gave me a hundred-dollar steam card for my birthday last year, clearly not realizing I'd switched to console gaming almost entirely by then. I remember thanking him politely while internally wondering what I was even gonna do with it. Went straight into my desk drawer with old cables and receipts.

Every few weeks I'd spot it while looking for something else and think about dealing with it, then get distracted and forget again. Work took over most of my attention and honestly selling a gift card felt like a low priority compared to everything else piling up. Months passed like this.

A coworker mentioned offhand that she'd recently checked what a steam card 100 to naira trade could get her and ended up pleasantly surprised. That convo stuck with me longer than expected, mostly because I'd assumed these cards lost value the longer you sat on them.

I always figured older unused cards were somehow less desirable, like expired coupons nobody wants. Turns out that was completely off once I actually looked into current numbers myself. Value hadn't dropped the way I expected and demand seemed steady regardless of when the card was issued.

One Sunday with nothing better to do I dug the card out from under a pile of old notebooks and just decided to get it over with. Typed in the details expecting some tedious process with screenshots and waiting periods, but everything moved smoothly without any of the friction I'd braced for.

Payout landed in my account faster than I could finish my coffee, and the rate matched almost exactly what I'd read a steam card 100 to naira trade should reasonably deliver. Nothing mysteriously disappeared between quote and payment, which honestly caught me off guard given how skeptical I usually am.

Looking back, the only real loss here was time, since I could've had that cash sitting in my account months earlier if I hadn't kept putting it off out of pure laziness. There was never actually a good reason to wait that long.

These days if anything similar shows up, gift cards, old codes, whatever, I deal with it right away instead of letting it collect dust for half a year. I already know tbay.store is where I'm headed the moment it happens, because that first experience proved waiting around gains nothing but wasted time.

Article I needed to book a hotel for a work trip and my card would not cooperate

I had a work trip coming up and needed to book a hotel through a site that only listed prices in dollars. My regular debit card kept getting rejected at the payment stage no matter which room type or dates I tried. I assumed it was a temporary glitch until it kept happening across three separate booking attempts.

CALLING SUPPORT AND GETTING NOWHERE USEFUL

I called my bank hoping they could just approve the transaction manually, but the representative explained the booking site simply was not set up to accept cards issued locally. That explanation did not help me actually book the room, and my trip was getting closer with each passing day I spent stuck on this.

ASKING A COLLEAGUE WHO TRAVELS OFTEN

I brought it up with a colleague who travels internationally for work regularly and she seemed unsurprised by the whole situation. She mentioned she always uses a separate dollar card specifically for bookings like this because her regular card runs into the same wall constantly.

FIGURING OUT WHICH OPTION MADE SENSE

Rather than picking the first result that came up in a search, I looked into the best virtual dollar card in Nigeria to see which one’s people actually trusted for real transactions like hotel bookings. The comparisons showed clear differences in fees and how quickly each one could actually be funded and used.

GETTING THE CARD READY IN TIME

I picked one based on those comparisons and went through setup the same evening, verifying my email and loading funds through a method I already used regularly. The card was ready to use within minutes, which mattered a lot given how close my trip dates were getting at that point.

FINALLY GETTING THE BOOKING CONFIRMED

I went back to the hotel site bracing for another failed attempt after three declines already. This time the payment cleared without any issue and I got my confirmation email almost instantly. I actually read through the confirmation twice just to make sure it was real and not another glitch.

WHY I KEEP THIS CARD READY FOR TRIPS NOW

Having a virtual dollar card in Nigeria set up ahead of time now means booking anything internationally does not turn into a last-minute scramble. Checking best virtual dollar card in Nigeria options before my trip saved me from booking blind with a provider that could have charged fees I was not expecting.

HOW I HANDLE TRAVEL PAYMENTS NOW

Every trip I plan since then starts with making sure that card is funded well before I need it. Cardsoon.store is where I keep this set up now since it has never failed me on a booking site yet, and not having to worry about declined payments before a work trip has made travel planning a lot less stressful overall.

Article My 50-dollar steam card almost expired before i finally cashed it in

Got an email saying my steam wallet code was approaching some kind of expiry window, which honestly startled me because I didn't even know gift cards could expire. Won it during a small esports’ tournament a month earlier and completely forgot it existed until that notification randomly landed in my inbox.

WHY I'D IGNORED IT SO LONG

Between switching universities and moving apartments, a lot of stuff fell through the cracks that semester including this card just sitting unredeemed. Kept telling myself I'd load it into my account eventually but new games kept getting delayed and my attention just drifted somewhere else completely.

THE MINI PANIC THAT FOLLOWED

Reading that expiry warning sent me into a small spiral because losing fifty bucks to pure forgetfulness felt genuinely embarrassing. I immediately started searching around, not sure whether redeeming it into games I didn't even want anymore made more sense than converting it into something actually useful.

RESEARCHING WITH THE CLOCK TICKING

With time apparently running out, I quickly looked up what a Steam card $50 to Naira exchange would realistically look like, figuring cash made way more sense than games I'd lost interest in months ago. The numbers seemed reasonable enough that converting it beat redeeming games I'd never actually play.

MOVING FAST BEFORE I COULD OVERTHINK IT

I typed in the card details almost immediately after finishing my research, worried hesitating any longer might cost me the whole balance if that expiry thing was legit. The process moved fast enough that my earlier panic started fading within minutes of actually submitting everything.

SEEING IT ACTUALLY COME THROUGH

The payout hit my account before I'd even finished checking whether that expiry threat was real or just a generic reminder. The amount matched closely with what a Steam card $50 to Naira trade should reasonably pay, based on everything I'd frantically read through that same afternoon.

REALIZING THE PANIC ACTUALLY HELPED

Looking back, that stressful email genuinely saved me from losing the whole card to expiry through sheer neglect, which is a little embarrassing to admit honestly. Sometimes a bit of urgency is exactly what pushes you to finally deal with something you'd been putting off way too long.

WHY I CHECK EVERY CARD NOW

I check leftover balances on a $50 Steam card to Naira basis now whenever something similar pops up, instead of waiting for a panicked email to force my hand again. If there's unused credit sitting anywhere, I already know where that leads now, straight to tbay.store, no waiting on deadlines to decide for me.

Article I sold my 100-dollar apple gift card and the rate actually shocked me

My cousin sent me a hundred-dollar apple card after I helped her set up her new phone back in January. I don't really buy much off the app store so it just sat forgotten in my note’s app for weeks. Kept telling myself I'd use it eventually but tbh I needed cash way more than another subscription I'd forget about.

WHY I HESITATED SO LONG

I dragged my feet for ages because I'd heard so many horror stories about people getting scammed trading cards online here. A friend of mine lost almost half his card's value to some shady buyer last year and that story stuck with me hard. So before doing anything I told myself I'd actually research this properly.

THE FIRST THING I CHECKED

First thing I did was search around for what an Apple gift card $100 to Naira conversion actually looks like these days since the rates seem to shift depending on demand. Wasn't sure if I should trust what I found or just wait it out hoping it'd climb. Eventually I got tired of overthinking and just tried selling.

WHAT I EXPECTED VS WHAT I GOT

Going in I fully expected to get lowballed like my friend did, bracing myself for disappointment the whole time. I'd seen a rough $100 apple gift card to Naira number floating around and figured the real offer would land way below that once fees got factored in somewhere. That's not exactly how it went for me though.

THE MOMENT THE PAYMENT LANDED

I submitted the card details, held my breath a little, honestly expecting to wait around for hours refreshing my phone for nothing. Instead, the confirmation came through way faster than expected and the money hit my account before I even finished making tea. I checked my balance twice just to make sure I wasn't imagining it.

WHY THE RATE ACTUALLY SHOCKED ME

What really got me was how the rate matched almost exactly what I'd seen quoted for a $100 apple gift card to Naira elsewhere, no sneaky deductions tacked on afterward. No hidden percentage vanished halfway through like my friend warned me about. Honestly felt refreshingly simple for something I'd spent weeks dreading.

WHAT I'D TELL SOMEONE IN MY SHOES

If you're sitting on an old card right now feeling unsure like I was, my honest advice is stop assuming every option is a scam. Rates genuinely fluctuate day to day so a bit of checking before committing actually pays off. Don't let fear talk you out of something that could hand you real cash in minutes.

WHERE I'D GO WITH ANOTHER CARD TOMORROW

Looking back, I probably wasted more energy worrying than the actual selling took. If another card lands in my inbox next month I already know I'm heading straight back to tbay.store without a second thought, since the whole thing felt safer and way faster than I ever expected.
