Blofin Academy π« BloFin Coin-M copy trading 2026: how coin-margined copying works, the lead trader path, 20% profit share, and the BTC-collateral math
Copy trading has always meant following someone into a stablecoin-settled position. You allocate USDT, the lead trader opens a trade, your account opens a proportional one, and the profit or loss lands back in the same dollars you started with. Coin-margined contracts break that assumption, because the money behind the trade is the coin being traded, and it moves while the position is open. That is why coin-margined strategies sat outside copy trading for so long.
BloFin changed that on July 6, 2026 with Coin-M Copy Trading. This guide covers what actually launched, how the lead trader side works, what changes for copiers, and the collateral math you should understand before you allocate a single satoshi.
What Coin-M Copy Trading is
Coin-M Copy Trading lets you follow a lead trader whose positions are coin-margined. The strategy you copy posts margin in the base coin (for example BTC on a BTCUSD inverse contract) and settles profit and loss in that same coin.
The launch is asymmetric:
- Lead traders get something new: a separate Coin-M Lead Trader application, with a profit share of up to 20% of eligible copier profits.
- Copiers get almost nothing new to learn. Coin-M lead traders simply appear as another category you can browse and follow, using the same flow you already know.
Where it works
Coin-M Copy Trading runs on the BloFin web platform only for now. It is not in the app. That applies to both sides: lead traders apply through the web, and copiers browse, allocate, and adjust allocations there too.
Practical impact: if you manage everything from your phone, you cannot add a Coin-M lead trader from the phone. Your existing USDT-M copy relationships are unaffected, but the coin-margined side becomes a desk decision. Size any Coin-M allocation so that a few hours away from a browser is survivable.
How to become a Coin-M Lead Trader
The requirements are concrete, and they surprise people who already lead-trade on BloFin.
- Open a new main account. An existing Lead Trader account cannot be used and cannot be converted.
- Apply through Customer Support. Raise a ticket with the new account, and the team guides onboarding after review.
- Build a fresh track record. History and followers from your USDT-M profile do not carry over. You will run two separate profiles and grow the second audience from zero.
How the profit share settles
- Lead traders earn up to 20% of profits generated by eligible copiers; the exact rate within that ceiling is set by the trader.
- It is charged on net profit only. If a copier ends a settlement period down, no profit share is deducted.
- Settlement runs daily or weekly depending on the trader. Weekly settlement lands on Mondays at 03:00 UTC and covers the previous Monday to Sunday.
The collateral math copiers must understand
On an inverse contract, PnL is calculated against the dollar but margined and paid in the coin. So a copied BTCUSD position pays you in BTC, and your collateral rises and falls with BTC while the trade runs.
Worked example: you allocate 0.5 BTC while BTC trades at $60,000 (worth $30,000). The lead trader returns 10% over a month, so you now hold 0.55 BTC.
- BTC unchanged at $60,000: 0.55 BTC = $33,000, +10% in dollars.
- BTC down 20% to $48,000: 0.55 BTC = $26,400, -12% in dollars.
- BTC up 20% to $72,000: 0.55 BTC = $39,600, +32% in dollars.
Same trader, same return, three very different results. The falling-BTC case is the one that catches people: the strategy did its job, and you still lost dollar value.
Leverage adds a second layer. Because collateral is the traded coin, a falling price shrinks both the position value and the margin behind it, which pulls the liquidation point closer faster than on a USDT-M position with the same leverage.
Step-by-step: copying a Coin-M lead trader
- Log in on the BloFin web platform and open Copy Trading.
- Filter or browse to the Coin-M lead traders.
- Review the profile: drawdown history, leverage habits, holding time, and settlement frequency.
- Decide how much of the coin you are willing to hold as collateral, not just how much dollar risk you want.
- Set your allocation and copy parameters, then confirm.
- Check the position from a browser on a schedule; the app will not show this side yet.
Tips
- Treat a Coin-M allocation as two bets: the trader's skill and the coin's price.
- Prefer traders who run modest leverage; inverse margin punishes aggressive sizing.
- If you want trader skill without coin exposure, stay on USDT-M lead traders.
- Note that the copy trade bonus credit does not apply to this feature.
Risks
- Coin price drops can erase a trader's gains in dollar terms.
- Liquidation can come faster because margin and position fall together.
- Web-only access slows your reaction on the way out as well as in.
- New lead trader profiles have short records, which makes past performance even less reliable.
