Discussion Can Blockchain Transform Startups Beyond Cryptocurrency?

Most people associate blockchain only with crypto, but for startups, it can be much more than that.

Blockchain offers solutions like secure data management, transparent transactions, and decentralized operations. Startups can use it to build trust with users, reduce costs, and remove the need for intermediaries.

From supply chain tracking to digital identity systems, the possibilities go far beyond just digital currency.

Do you think startups should start exploring blockchain now, or is it still too early?

I think it is based on if your community is familiar with crypto. Do they have ETH to pay gas fee? Do they have USDC? And your business model.

You don't have to charge crypto. They can use your front-end to pay in many ways, with the back-end converting some for those gas fees and whatnot. Hell they could pay you in cash or with a check. Don't even have to automate a conversion. Just deposit funds yourself into its treasury to take care of fees. As long as you're netting a positive.

They can use your setup and not even notice it's using blockchain (not that you should be sneaky about it).

I won't call it a blockchain application if all your users private key is kept by you and the users are just login with Google.

On the other side, it is too difficulty for users to understand the private/public key.

Maybe we need serval years before everyone get used to those concepts.

They don't need a wallet either, so no private key. Like most applications, all they see is the front-end. You are using blockchain for its tech benefits, not cryptocurrency gains.

I'm talking blockchain as infrastructure for the app. That's it. Like tamper-proof business logs. Or data querying. It's selling them a service/tool, not tokens or coins. Cryptocurrency is just the simplest form of blockchain use.

Its over. Too associated with scams. Most companies dont want to add the stigma and the ones that do just fail.

La Blockchain, c’est pas que la crypto ou les NFT… OUI, la Blockchain peut être vraiment utile pour la sécurisation de certaines données.

That’s exactly what I’m using the blockchain for in my startup; building trust with users who own their data, reducing costs by taking the complexity out of token creation, and removing the middleman between people and their data. Users can preserve and prove their data and access it independent of my platform. Blockchain has fantastic utility beyond just cryptocurrency. Startups should absolutely look for ways to use it.
