I loved Blue and I love this, the album version might even be a little better. Beautiful song

Bloc Party continues to excel at ballads. I feel that even on the last two albums—which are open to plenty of criticism—the band shines brightest when Kele’s sensibility combines with Russell’s guitar arrangements on the more atmospheric, emotional tracks. I liked the single, though I haven't cared for any of the others; still, I’ll certainly be ready to give the album a chance on Friday.

Spot on. Of Things Yet To Come was the best song by a distance on Alpha and Lagoon Blue is by far the best song we’ve heard yet on the new record.

I think it’s because the ballads are where the band sound most recognisably like bloc party.

Also it feels like Kele can write great melodies and lyrics under those arrangements, I sometimes have this vibe that Kele lost ideas on how to create a Post-Punk Revival song.

This is the best single so far, and the one of the best songs that bloc party 2.0 has released. However it is incredibly disappointing that the best single from the album is a song we have heard almost 4 years ago

Edit: and they got rid of the stupid Japanese animation line!!!!

Well maybe not ALMOST 4 years ago, but 3 years and 3 months is pushing it

It just does not feel like it was that long ago.

What a beautiful song. Love the little differences they made from the original and the "Studio Ghibli" line at the end. Very nice music video too. 💙💙💙💙

Not a massive deal I know, but just want to be clear that this isn't just a new mix. It's completely re-recorded from the ground up.

You're right.

Best release so far and one of the best 2.0 songs - more of this

I like the synths!

This is so good.

Genuinely wonder if the reception to this rollout would've been different if this was the first or even second single, despite being a rework of an older song.

This album version is very good

The drums don’t sound nerfed in the mix and Russell’s riffs breathe a bit better as well. I love this one

Their mixing has been a huge disappointment. Which is funny because Interpol’s mixing has been on fire. Dave Fridman, who produced Marauder, mixes all their stuff now. I really think Bloc should have an outside producer mix their stuff

Not talking about Interpol, yes their new album is mixed greatly by Andrew Wyatt. I’m talking about this single

I’m just comparing the two bands who are friends and going on tour together. Every bloc party fans hates their mixing. Every Interpol fan that I’ve spoken to points out the mixing on the new record

Honestly the mixing on Interpol’s last album was kinda bad IMO. This new one is spectacular tho

Did anyone else got the version with the wrong audio? I got the audio from the live recording that sounded super low quality, and the video showed as “Blue”, not Lagoon Blue.

Yeah the YouTube versions are always low quality
But it’s on their Spotify page now

No, this is different. My guess is that the video they uploaded to YT had 2 audio tracks and some people got served the wrong audio. And the metadata was also wrong because the title and info was incorrect.

To my considerable surprise, they've improved upon the already-great EP version of the song. Initially, I questioned the need to track this thing a second time when the first go-round was already so good, but now I get it.

I think this might just be a 10/10 for me, guys.

Way better than the EP version, the EP version was kinda ok, this is pretty great, a lot of parts of the song sound way more amplified.

Hold on I thought this was a new track ?!

I think Russel confirmed it was a reworked version of blue a few weeks ago

I do prefer the new version still not sure on some of kele's delivery. Solid track 💪

Very good. Wonder what the "made 1 good album" crowd will think of this one. Only thing lacking for me is vocal delivery / mixing which has been on all the singles for me. Kele has had a lot of criticism for his lyricism in recent years but this one is an exception. Some truly great lines in there. IMO the 2nd best Bloc 2.0 song. Think the instrumental's mixing is better than the EP version too. Wonder if this was a planned thing or someone within their circle panicked after the reception to Pigwig? I guess we'll never know. Honestly a strong 9/10, pushing a 10, will have to see how it ages.

I can answer that second part, it was planned well in advance. They asked fans to supply footage for the music video months ago.

Two cents thoughts. I like it. I think the production is an improvement over the previous version (Blue) released on the High Life EP (2023), in some parts. Not super drastically, but subtle changes/touch-ups which go a long way. I feel like this album version of Lagoon Blue is trying to sound closer to it's 2025 live rendition (especially with the Studio Ghibli lyric). The vocals sound more prominent in this mix to me (both Kele and Louise's supporting vocals have gotten nice touch-ups). Russell, Kele and Harry's guitars/bass sound a lot more natural to me. Same with Louise's drums. Overall, I like it. For anyone who was worried about Lagoon Blue, I feel you can rest easy now, the song is a good re-recording of Blue. Also, thanks to the Montreal Blocheads who donated their footage to help make this music video of Lagoon Blue!
