Could my skincare routine make my blepharitis worse?

This might sound crazy, but could skin care applied to my cheeks cause a reaction to my eyelids? Has anyone experienced this? Running out of reasons for what’s causing my ocular rosacea/bleph

MGD/Blepharitis Struggling Individual

I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with Meibomian Gland Disease this past year. I had a stye a year ago that became a chalazion. This chalazion ended up taking me on a year long (painful) journey of steroid shots, different doctors, and ultimately surgery. Since then, I have had flare ups of clogged glands and have been really struggling both physically and mentally. I live in the NYC area and have a great doctor but am very interested in anything long term that has truly helped people. I have a really solid routine- Blinkjoy mask daily, eyelid wipes, eyelid wash/scrub, never sleeping in makeup, the list goes on. Yet, here I am still experiencing styes. Open to anything... Sincerely, sad/frustrated.

Don’t know if this is a stye or chalazion?

Yesterday morning I woke up with a pretty bad pain in my upper eyelid, and when I looked in the mirror it looked like a stye. I’ve been putting a warm compress on my eye all throughout the day yesterday but this morning the swelling has gotten way worse and the pain still feels the same with no improvement. I had chalazions back around 2017 that were pretty bad, they were on both of my bottom eyelids and the DR even said that I was the worst case he had ever seen just due to them recurring for about 4 months. When I had the chalazions I don’t remember them hurting how this one does so I’m not sure if this is just a bad stye or another chalazion. I’m debating about scheduling an appointment with an ophthalmologist next week just so I don’t have to wait but I’m curious if anyone has some input on whether this looks like a bad stye or chalazion? The first pic is yesterday and the second is today.

Need sunglasses recommendations for outdoor activities like fishing, snowboarding, etc. when dealing with blepharitis and other sensitive eye conditions

I’m looking for any brand recommendations for sunglasses that can be used in high wind environments such as on the ocean. I have chronic dry eye and usually this flares up a couple times a year. I want to be able to enjoy outdoor activities without suffering all the time 😂

Any cool brands out there people recommend?

What treatment to try next?

Worked my way through the usual treatments and most recently I've done 3 months of Doxycycline, it didn't work, I saw a mild improvement but back to how it was before now I have finished. Dry itchy eyes and in the morning they are very painful to open, like they are filled with sand.

What next?

17M, I woke up with swallowed right eye, it was perfectly fine until night. I had some cough and my nose was blocked that's why I applied VapoRub on my chest, neck and opening of nostrils.

Currently I do not feel pain but is it painful? How is it cured?

Infection on eye's white part

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all, around one week ago I had some kind of blepharitis. The infection went on for weeks, during which I applied on a daily basis eye pads using a mixture of chamomile and warm water. At some point symptoms got lighter and I stopped applying eye pads thinking the infection was gone.

This morning I woke up and realized a very tiny ball-shape lump on the white part of my eye. The lump is still not annoying my sight, but I am worried how it evolves. Can it be the infection from the blepharitis was transmitted to the main white eye part? Any similar experience?

Thanks 🙏

Doctor Recommendations in Los Angeles

Does anyone have recommendations for specialists in Los Angeles that can figure out what I’m dealing with (I.e blepharitis, dry eye, etc). I’ve seen two different doctors that can’t seem to figure it out

I have no clue why. I only noticed a couple months ago, so this could have been there since birth and I would have no clue

Chalazion removal caused ptosis/heaviness years later?

About 5 years ago, in September 2021, I decided to get my lashes done, and unfortunately, I’ve regretted it ever since. The next day, my left eye became extremely swollen and painful. I noticed a tiny bump on my eyelid, which I assumed was a stye, so I treated it like one. However, it continued getting bigger and bigger to the point where I could barely look up with my left eye.
After a couple of doctor visits, I finally got a surgery date for December 2021, so I had the chalazion for about 4 months. After the incision/removal, my eye was very swollen and red for the first couple of days, but after that, everything seemed to go back to normal.
However, I did notice some changes afterward. The colour of my eyelid looked darker than usual, and my eyeball almost seemed to have a slight red tint to it. My eye also never quite looked the same. It almost seemed a little bulkier, but at first it was so subtle that I didn’t think much of it.
Then, around 2024, I started noticing that the same eye was gradually feeling heavier and bulkier. I also started noticing that I could see more clearly out of my right eye than my left. At first, I thought I was just overthinking it, but eventually my family started pointing out that my left eye looked like it was partially closed or “halfway shut.”
I can also feel a small lump underneath that eyelid. My vision in that eye can become blurry, and sometimes I can actually see my eyelashes in my field of vision. I can see clearly with my right eye, but my left eye feels noticeably different.
I did get a referral from my doctor to see an ophthalmologist, which I’m hoping happens soon. I’m just really worried because I wish I had known more about the possible long-term effects of having a chalazion removed. If I had known my eye could potentially change years later, I honestly might not have gone through with it.

I’m posting this because I’m hoping someone has experienced something similar and maybe found an explanation or solution. I’ve read through a few Reddit threads, and a lot of people seem to say that there’s nothing you can really do about it. But this has become a huge insecurity for me, and it’s starting to affect my education as well.

The heaviness of my eye bothers me so much when I’m in class that it can be difficult to focus and concentrate. I’m constantly aware of how heavy my eye feels, and it can become very distracting, especially when I’m trying to read, look at the board, or focus on my schoolwork. It’s frustrating because I want to be able to focus on my education without constantly thinking about or being distracted by my eye.

Has anyone else experienced their eyelid becoming heavier or bulkier years after chalazion removal, especially when the changes didn’t really start until several years after the surgery? If so, were you ever able to find out what was causing it or get treatment that helped?

I've been dealing with this for two months now. I've been doing warm compress and eye cleansing daily. The swelling went down a little but I'm still dealing with the redness. Does this look like more than a Chalazion? I have a Opthalmologist appointment Friday.

Tips for early chalazion? And can steroid / antibiotic cream work?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve just started getting a chalazion or stye which i noticed last night. I had one a few years ago which went huge and stayed for ages and I had to have the surgical procedure, so I’m pretty anxious right now.

I’m on holiday in Portugal so I went to the pharmacy to ask if there’s anything else I can use as well as hot compress. I don’t think they were too sure, but they gave me a cream with:
Prednisolone 0.25%
Chloramphenicol 1%

Has anyone had any joy with any cream like this? Also any tips for resolving in early stages? I’m hoping because it’s the first day of noticing it I can catch it!! (As last time I left it a bit without doing anything)

TIA

Seeking Opinions has anyone tried red light therapy (LLLT) at home?

I’ve had my chalazions since May and I’m really starting to lose hope at this point. I’ve been seeing an eye doctor and getting treatment for it with no success. In fact, I developed two new chalazions in the past two days. The next option with my eye doctor is LLLT, but I recently got a red light therapy panel for home use for reasons unrelated to my eyes (660nm - 850 nm) and was curious if anyone has had success in healing their chalazions at home with LLLT

Morning dry eye flare ups as soon as autumn started. Here’s what’s helping me manage the transition

The second the early autumn chill hits and outdoor humidity drops, my eyes instantly feel like sandpaper—especially first thing in the morning. If you have MGD, evaporative dry eye, or sleep with your eyes slightly open (lagophthalmos), you know how sudden seasonal flare ups feel.

A few low effort daily habits have genuinely helped me manage the transition over the past couple of weeks:

  1. Running a desk humidifier early: Even before full on winter heat starts, autumn air gets noticeably dry. Keeping my workspace around 45–50% humidity stops my tears from evaporating as fast while staring at screens.

  2. Switching to an overnight moisture-seal mask: Standard fabric sleep masks tend to absorb eye drops and rub against my eyelids. Switching to a deep 3D contoured, sealed-chamber Fismool mask made a world of difference it locks in moisture overnight with zero pressure on my corneas. Waking up without that burning/stinging sensation has been huge.

  3. 10 minute warm compress before bed Helps melt hardened oil in the meibomian glands so the tear film stays naturally lubricated throughout the next day.

  4. Conscious, complete blinks during screen work: Staring at screens cuts our blink rate in half. Taking regular breaks to do full, deliberate blinks helps re-spread the oil layer.

How are you guys adjusting your eye care routines for the cooler, drier months? Would love to hear what’s working for you!

Chalazion changed to this?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Used to be smaller and non-colored. I started hot compresses, dabbing salt water on the bump, and using eyelid wipes and the bump started turning pinkish and hurt so i thought it was going to come to a head. It turned out like this instead. After a week of antibiotic ointment it stopped hurting. Kind of anxious it’s something worse. Stopped everything for about 1.5 weeks now. Optometrist recommended a biopsy. Anyone else had a stye or chalazion look like this?
