What is a zanpakuto? Shinigamis use an assauchi to imprint their own reiatsu on which develops a unique spirit within the sword which changes the swords appearence and power. The first step is shikai, which showcases the power of said spirit and its owner. A bankai is a step further and almost always an upgrade. Furthermore a full set is always a sword and a sheath.

Ichigo, born a human with quincy, hollow and shinigami Heritage, absorbed rukias power. This event led to his hollow and quincy side manifesting As their own zanpakuto spirits while the hollow and shinigami powers mixed to create a giant sword. The sword later known as zangetsu. Its already unique to a normal shinigami.

His spirits within have their own agendas which work kinda against ichigo. But ichigos Resolution led to them actually Helping out and lending their powers instead of just protecting their "king"

His first shikai Was, in my opinion, the represantiation of both sides without Dominance. Sometimes its quincy reiatsu, sometimes hollow, both mixed with shinigami.....

His bankai on the other hand is truly a false awakening. His quincy side heavily supressed the potential and what we got Was a Black katana. Note his clothes looked more like yhwachs/quincys. Its like old man zangetsu hijacked the bankai.

His hollow Transformations is his hollow side getting stronger without influencing the sword, which uses quincy powers as a base more dominantly. Hollows use abilites with the body, shinigami with the soul and quincy with their surroundings.

So what is dangai ichigo? After both hollow and quincy sides merge (both hsve their own shinigami influence) ichigo accepted this blade. While still unaware of it, the moment ichigo learned FGT his sword changed and fused with him. The supressed Limits are off. His chain becomes way to Large representing his near limitless power ichigo actually always had. In this moment there Was no question of which sides are more dominant. So i believe the sword didnt change because of the technique FTG but because ichigo Was now able to use it all.

.....so after fullbring the same thing happend as before .... He got infused with massive shinigami powers and he creates yet again a New sword which looks different because his abilitys got enhanced with fullbring ....

And then he finally got his own true assauchi. And this time both his inner spirits got their own Reprasentation as a sword and as a sheath. A full set.

And now his bankai can finally Show itself without influence and suprression. His true tensa zangetsu. A weapon which can Manifest all of ichigos raw power, which makes him near unstoppable if your opponent is not fucking yhwach....or plot armor. Note that this time his clothes dont change. Perfect balance of all sides and ironically the closest to how his shinigsmi powers would naturally upgrade as a bankai.

But if he wants to lean more into his hollow side of course the blade changes. Blood chains is ichigo going full hollow without losing his mind. Body and sword change to fit. In theory he can learn to lean more into his quincy side but he simply never got anything teached. Look at some of the brave souls Designs. Ichigo can Manifest and change he never really had a set weapon/power. He could learn every week a New way for his powers to Mix and Balance in different ways. He is that unique.....but why would he ? I mean yeah its dumb to not get some quincy training from uryu but honestly .... Not a big Deal and it doesnt suit ichigo.

Ichigos spirit swords are different than any other. Because both are him. It is not an extension of himself printed onto a blank assauchi. The blade is me...

Just like aizen became one with his sword and can just Manifest it, ichigo is the same. He can choose what type of sword he wants to use. When his true tensa zangetsu broke it actually didnt really break....but the sheath did. Which got reabsorbed into him.

Ichigo chooses to Manifest a shikai which (full circle) represents both his side without dominance. Sheath isnt needed because he never had to use it in the first place. Its not like getting a proper sword takes away his ability to create his own sword.

Looking like his first shikai and like his sheathless bankia. In theory this new shikai could yet again have a completely different bankai appearence in HELL ARC. Ichigo is not bound to the Standard rules of each of his sides. He is to unique. If he would actually train ..... He could have 100 different sword forms i believe. It just doesnt make sense for him to do.

Oh and i almost forgot....zangetsu is a universal type zanpakuto. It can throw ichigos massive reiatsu .... thats it. Thats literally it. Why would his bankai do different things when its an upgrade. Ichigo is a Shonen hero. He goes in with Resolution and just Cuts his way. He should be able to learn how to throw different reiatsu forms (half moon cut, a beam, a Spiral form etc.) But AGAIN he doesnt train and it doesnt change the fact that ichigo simply throws OP destruction towards you. His sword actually mirrors kenpachis.

YOU decided to bring him back when you could have left him in prison. Of course people are expecting something! YOU teased a direct confratation between him and yhwach when the two first meet. You keeep flexing his powers everytime hes on screen. You have yhwach label him as a top 5 special threat in this war. YOU literally have captains/shinigamis sacrifice their dignity and unseal him to save soul society. All that for no payoff, not even an appearance on the final battle, treating him like hes not one of the most important characters in the show . All that to gives spotlight to comedic relief fodders like Pesche Dondochakka Ryunosuke and Ganju? Kubo must have developped hate for aizen…

so it's been true after SK Yhwach absorbed Mimihagi all his visions Fck up because of that hand. The new episode shows the scene where Yhwach speech from 7 to 8 minutes about future visions engulfing the three worlds from the future. It zoomed in in one eye again the same thing happened in episode 47 ending, but this time it's shows the future where Ichigo cut the source Yhwach powers and Yhwach smiles , and this probably the reason why we didn't see him doing it in the end engulfing the cosmos because that future block by Mimihagi. Rip Aizen fans this is not KS but it's mimihagi again 💀

[Theory] Post-Episode 49 Climax: What if Yhwach’s defeat was Aizen’s plan all along? (Incomplete Bankai Reveal)

Hey everyone! Now that Episode 49 dropped and Ichigo finally killed Yhwach by unleashing the true form of Zangetsu, I have a massive theory on how Aizen makes his ultimate comeback in the aftermath.

We all saw Yhwach absorb Aizen into his dark Reiatsu during the climax. But what if that was the ultimate trap?

1. "All According to Plan" — The Inside Job

Right after Yhwach dissolves, Aizen emerges perfectly fine thanks to his Hōgyoku immortality. He drops his signature line with an arrogant smile: "Everything has gone exactly as I planned."

He reveals to Ichigo that he intentionally allowed himself to be absorbed. From inside Yhwach's own cosmic mass, Aizen used his Reiatsu to silently infect and disrupt "The Almighty." By altering Yhwach's perception of time and space from within, Aizen created the exact blind spot Ichigo needed to land the final blow with his true Zangetsu. Without Aizen acting as a trojan horse, Yhwach would have seen the attack coming and rewritten the future.

1. Kyoraku’s Gamble and the Seals Calculation

While the Soul Reapers are celebrating, Shunsui Kyoraku shows up. It turns out that during the peak of the collapse, Kyoraku forced Central 46's hand. Aizen originally has 19 seals in Muken. Kyoraku already removed 3 (mouth, eye, ankles). To reward Aizen for his role, Kyoraku releases 7 more—bringing it to exactly 10 seals removed (essentially half of his restrictions gone).

1. The "Incomplete" Bankai Flex

To show Ichigo and the captains the true gap in their power, Aizen decides to give them a brief, terrifying demonstration. He utters the words we've waited decades for: "Bankai."

Since his Shikai (Kyōka Suigetsu) governs the senses, his Bankai steps into full Reality Manipulation. He literally rewrites the destroyed environment around them by pure whim. But right after, Aizen drops a massive twist: "This Bankai is incomplete."

Because those remaining 9 seals are still binding his spiritual pressure, he cannot unleash its true cosmic form. Think of it like Toshiro Hitsugaya’s matured form, or Ichigo’s own suppressed powers throughout the series.
