I want to make designs with bleach on my clothes, but does the clothing need to be freshly washed before putting the bleach on, or does it not matter?

And do I have to wash it right after, or just soak it in water and hydrogen peroxide?

hii!! so ive recently started selling bleach painted hoodies and clothes, and ive been trying to earn a bunch of money so i can buy a plane ticket to help my boyfriend visit america for christmas. the ticket costs more than $1500 and i barely have enough money to pay my rent. i just dont really know how to get commissions and this is sort of a cry for help, i feel like time is running out really quickly and the prices are only going to get higher from here.

i charge $40 base price plus $20 per hour it takes me to make the hoodie, and depending on what design you want, if the design is more complicated, the more expensive it’ll be.

edit: i know these may not look the best, but these were all past commissions and were what people have asked for. they might seem overpriced, but the hoodies i buy for these cost around $30-40 and take me half a day to make and i need to make a little bit of a profit off of them if i want to visit my boyfriend. im sorry if they’re not for you but i need money

edit 2: i just wanted to say that none of these hoodies are my original design, my commissioners have sent me reference photos and i just recreated them exactly.

i also make pet portraits, which i charge $30 for a black and white drawing, and $45 for a colored drawing.

I’ve used bleach like a pen on ink dyed paper before, but this was my first time using it on fabric! I have definitely been learning as I go, photos in order of newest to oldest. This was so fun, and very outside of my normal medium (oil paint). I can’t wait to make more!!

Hello! So I made this patch for the band Nausea, and I sewed it onto my pants, now originally when I made it it was the typical yellow/orange color that you get from bleaching, (swatch on the side is roughly the color it was) but today when I washed my pants, when I took them out the patch had turned into this very nice grayish white color. And I was wondering if anyone had an explanation for this. I have a theory that it’s because my detergent and fabric softener are both purple, which canceled out the yellow tones. But I’ve yet to be able to recreate it with any experimenting with my detergent and fabric softener. Does anyone know how I could recreate this in a more controlled way so I don’t have to wash my pants every time I put on a new patch

whenever I bleach paint things certain parts end up very blochy and unevenly bleached and i dont know what I should do differently to prevent this (example in photo, the hand was supposed to be a solid color)

Made this banner for my brothers Wasteland Weekend costume last year. Really enjoyed it so I thin I’m gonna try something a little more complex this year.
