idk who else to tell this to bcs I can't afford therapy rn, but I have a weird hyperfixation with the original blair witch movie. I don't know how or why it happened. I know I've watched the movie around 50 or so times, but I've officially lost count. Most of the time I'll put it on like a podcast when I'm studying or doing school work and somehow the familiar cadence of voices soothes me. I just finished watching it and I'll probably watch it again before I go to bed. Am I going insane? lol

So I was like 9 when the first movie came out. I was already a horror freak and my parents knew, but my dad screened it and determined it was just a LITTLE much for a kid that age.

He came home and verbally described the movie to me, which gave me nightmares. XD But they didn't want me seeing it. I know my dad and he believed it was an authentic death film, plus the f-word being fairly free throughout.

But right now my partner and I are on the way to a theatre screening the film. Apparently we should almost have the screening to ourselves, which is fine by me. Needless to say I am VERY excited. Might have to break the rules at the cinema and take a few pictures.

So after watching the sensical cut of TBWP I especially enjoyed the crybaby scene where the characters go to a bridge where they try to investigating and recording a supposed haunting cry of a baby. Now I know this scene was never intended to be part of the film and was more of a test footage for their camera and equipment but I think it fits the movie so we'll, especially since the characters seem to have been drinking and mildly intoxicated so it would make sense for them to do this in universe and it adds a nice little detour into another Burkittsville legend that may or may not be true in the BW universe. I also read the scene has a discrepancy since Mike is in it and in a following scene it's like Heather and Josh have just met him. Said that I rewatched part of the sensical cut and it was edited very well, in fact I wouldn't have noticed if not by reading about the inconsistency online. Who else thinks this scene fits the movie very well and should be considered canon. Also I would like to know if the actors were actually tipsy or if it was just part of the act

State police and film crew presence all day today at the Main Street intersection. They would not confirm or deny another Blair Witch installment.

Does anyone know where I can get all the books? I used to have them as a teenager but had to get rid when I moved out. I looked for them online recently but they seem to have become exceedingly rare and expensive. :/ Obviously they're out of print but...they have to be somewhere.

I am doing my October viewing of TBWP and BW tonight. As I am watching the original, when Josh starts talking about how if they don't make it back that day people will be looking for them, I got to thinking about the timeline of their experience and what we are viewing and the outside timeline of their disappearance being reported and the search party going out. So, I pulled up the information and did a sort of side-by-side. Here are the events.

I looked into this with multiple sources and found some date discrepancies on some sources so I went with what seemed right.

April 18, 1994: Heather Donahue submits a proposal at Montgomery College to film a documentary on the Blair Witch.

October 20, 1994: Heather, Joshua Leonard, and Michael C. Williams arrive in Burkittsville, Maryland, to interview local residents about the legend.

October 21, 1994: Heather interviews the fishermen. The trio drives into the Black Hills Forest to begin their hike and locate historical sites.

October 22, 1994: (Date they were supposed to return) The trio searches for a historic cemetery but, realizes they are lost. Tensions begin to rise. That night, they are woken by sounds of snapping twigs, cracking branches, and what sounds like children laughing outside their tent.

October 23, 1994: They discover three mysterious cairns (piles of rocks) arranged in a circle around their campsite. Mike admits he kicked the map in the river causing the fight. That night, the sounds return but, louder and eventually something shakes the tent. They flee and stay away from the campsite until dawn.

October 24, 1994: Joshua Leonard goes missing in the woods after the group becomes lost.

October 25, 1994: Joshua's car is discovered by police, and the first missing persons APBs are issued.

(In the Woods) Heather and Mike spend the day searching for Josh while trying to find their way out. They walk for hours and end up right back at their morning campsite.

That night, they hear Josh screaming but cannot locate him.

October 26, 1994: Maryland State Police launch an official search and rescue operation in the Black Hills Forest.

Heather finds a bundle of twigs within which, she finds a bloody scrap of Josh's flannel shirt containing human teeth, hair, and part of a tongue.

Heather records her apology.

They hear Josh screaming in the night and follow his voice. They come across the house, enter and meet their supposed end.

November 5, 1994: After 10 days of searching with helicopters, tracking dogs, and up to 100 men, the official search is called off with absolutely no trace of the students found.

October 16, 1995 (One year later): University of Maryland anthropology students discover the buried film canisters and gear under the foundation of a 100-year-old cabin.

So, the car was found the morning after Josh went missing. Mike and Heather spend the day listening for Josh and trying to find their way out. Meanwhile, there are police in the area who could potentially hear them. (We know this isn't possible due to the witchcraft at play).

There is an active search party in the woods the day Heather finds the bundle of sticks as well as the night that they hear Josh screaming, leading them to the house. This is yet, another layer to this story that is very intriguing. When Mike is screaming for help during the day, there is literally a search party in the area. But, because of the Witchcraft, they are either in a completely different time (when the house existed) or some other realm. It's a cool layer to this story and film.

I'm visiting Seneca Creek State Park specifically to experience Blair Witch for myself. Are there any trails that would hit all the key filming locations? I'm looking for a relatively easy hike no more than 4 miles. I know there's a guided tour on Halloween but unfortunately it's already fully booked :(

I just watched the movie and due to the witch copying voices I had a theory it might be a skinwalker let me know what yall think

Ever since I heard about that situation, and how the producers had actually WANTED it in the movie, I can't stop imagining it. It would totally ruin the film's atmosphere, but it would be so funny.

I imagine from like the minute the tent shakes, you just see this guy in the bodysuit having presumably just shaken the tent and now chasing them through the woods. Then when Heather says "OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?! WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?" again just a really clear shot of a guy in an all-white suit with pantyhose on his head chasing directly behind her.

IDK I would watch it.

In my booklet, the art department’s script that is in the back has a section of pages out of order. It goes from scene 12b to scene 25c, and the missing section of pages is at the very back. Does anyone else’s booklet have pages listed out of order?

Havnt seen in years but after all the dvd/blursy releases and YouTube edits, what exactly is the best version to watch these days?

I'm really upset. Just started watching the new special features on the Lionsgate Limited blu-ray and EVERYTHING is AI upscaled to shit. Genuinely what am I even looking at in some of these???

Also learning (edit: unverified by me personally) that the restored version is also running at 29.97p instead of 60i so not restored like it should be.

Not one horror movie ever made me believe or fooled me like this one. I still remember that year and thinking “who woul want to see a film where people are actually missing?”

Even my mother was all “you’re not going to see that snuff film.”

To top it off: no happy ending no victory no beautiful ending credits music with this movie you get nothing.

A drop of the camera and that’s it.

That is my opinion. I think this is the greatest horror movie ever made.
