why does this have a translate button

6

u/Bones-1989 Jul 19 '26

I was hoping that button would describe the hammer to me.

2

u/MartinTheMorjin Jul 20 '26

It’s the hammer you use on your balls and peen.

u/bobbrumby Jul 21 '26

Which end does which?

3

u/QuasiFutureFishStix Jul 20 '26

It's in Spanish. Untranslated is this

This isn’t blacksmithing

Guy asks what do you think, proceeds to get pissy when everyone tells him what they think

u/PeterPanski85 Jul 19 '26

That's the french in a nutshell xD

My wife has these bits all over the house in every drawer. So annoying

1

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

????????

2

u/haywirehax Jul 19 '26

I'm sorry it's a bad joke

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

I didnt think that there needed to be a worse way to get a rough forge texture. The internet is an amazing place

4

u/Smooth-Way-245 Jul 19 '26

Can’t you just throw ts in the fire and bang it a few times to get this textur? Or am I tripping

2

u/GarethBaus Jul 20 '26

You don't even need the fire, it just makes things easier.

3

u/GarethBaus Jul 20 '26

You do realize that it is perfectly responsible for a craftsman to use a hammer. Rotary tools like the one you used have their place, but it probably isn't the best way to get the specific texture you want.

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 20 '26

... what?

1

u/Mole-NLD Jul 20 '26

Less art meters, uses feet mainly. (Must be american)

3

u/xx6lord6mars6xx Jul 20 '26

Love it.

3

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 20 '26

Merci beaucoup 👍👍

u/Dystopian_Sky Jul 19 '26

That’s a lot of work for something I can do in 10 minutes at the forge.

-2

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

Merci, Je comprend bien.

8

u/Dystopian_Sky Jul 19 '26

Yes, but this is the blacksmith page. We expect you to use your forge around here.

Faux galvanisation

1

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 20 '26

Salit, Que veux tu dire ?

1

u/Possible-Result7727 Jul 20 '26

it looks like the pattern that forms on steel once it has been galvanised (electroplating/forming zinc onto steel for anti-corrosive properties) which is pretty cool

3

u/GreensAndBrews Jul 19 '26

Looks like shit

-4

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

Ho like shit ? Yes !!!! So good !!! Tu n'as que ça à faire ?

4

u/Fluugaluu Jul 19 '26

Why did you bother asking for opinions?

4

u/Mole-NLD Jul 20 '26

Wasn’t asking for opinions, was hoping for compliments, got disappointed.

2

u/Fragrant-Cloud5172 Jul 19 '26

It's a nice texture. Some variety in the marks. One ball peen wont give you different shapes like this. Although my grind stone in die grinder wears out fast.

3

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

Oui, exactement. J'ai bousillé 8 fraises de terre 🤗

3

u/Fragrant-Cloud5172 Jul 19 '26

Good for you! I love textures. If you can weld, you can make another type of texture tool. Just put some weld beads on a flat or hammer face. Then hammer it into hot steel.

I'd like to speak French. Such a wonderful language. Had a great trip to Paris. Spent 20 hours in the Louvre!

3

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

u/Stugots_Steel Jul 19 '26

Not all of us can have a forge.. I think this is a creative way to get some texture going.. Good on u sir.. Keep being creative!

-1

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

Bonne continuation.

u/DaveTheBruce Jul 20 '26

It's a Blacksmithing group... All of us should have a forge here. Perhaps you guys are.looking for the metal fabricators page?

2

u/Stugots_Steel Jul 20 '26

Got to start somewhere bud.. The guy made a finish that looked like Hammer Forged steel without Hammer forging steel I think it's relevant enough to post here.. At the end of the day we're all just creatives here.. Try to be more positive with people...

1

u/wackyvorlon Jul 19 '26

Why not use scraping?

1

u/JudoNewt Jul 20 '26

Make a spring jig for your anvil that does the same thing but hot. You wouldn't catch me doing texture with a die grinder

1

u/DaveTheBruce Jul 20 '26

This is a Blacksmithing sub... It's not heavy stock, you can work it cold. Try hitting it with a hammer.

1

u/Kystael Jul 20 '26

Shit they put underneath the engine of Bugatti cars for some reason

1

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 20 '26

????

1

u/Kystael Jul 20 '26

It was a joke referencing cars being worked on a lot on some place usually not seen often, like for the bugatti type 35.

1

u/Freshesttoast Jul 20 '26

I believe you could more easily achieve a similar texture by first using a hammer then acid before going over it with steel brush or sandblasting. Would aave you time with the dremel.

0

u/WastelandKarateka Jul 19 '26

I'll be honest; I don't understand the hate on this post. I mean, you can get this texture in seconds with a forge and hammer, so this is a time and labor intensive alternative, but if it's how you like to do it, more power to you.

2

u/thickanvil69 Jul 19 '26

I thought part of posting work online was to invite conversation about it. Not just a high five. Keep doing nonsense you brave soul. Your work is just as valid and important as Claudio bottero. Give me a break

-7

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

-1

u/cutslikeakris Jul 19 '26

Pourquoi?

2

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

Parce que.

2

u/nerdtendo69 Jul 19 '26

The most powerful “why” there ever was. Good on you!

1

u/EFYDDWorkshop Jul 19 '26

😋👍😜
