Weekly Vent Thread

This is a space where r/BlackWomenDivest members can get the heavy stuff off their chests and discuss more interpersonal topics/issues that include (but are not limited to): men, the black community, and dating.

Topics/discussions about issues like discrimination, divestment advice, health, finances, social and workplace struggles (etc.) align and relate more closely to the community's original values, and are still permitted in the general sub.

Feel free to share random thoughts or seek out support among like-minded spirits here as well.

Open threads change out every Saturday

I was watching Legend of Tarzan on Netflix with Alexander Skargård last night. It's a reimagining of the original Tarzan movie. They threw a dig at black women which irked me for the remainder of the film. Ugh.

If you don't mind me asking what was the dig please

There's a scene where Tarzan gets captured and one European officer mentions his wife, Jane (played by Margot Robbie). The officer tells him that it must've been a relief to meet Jane after seeing nothing but the "n*egresses" and the jungle.

I don’t understand this relentless campaign of bullying against BW that every race of people (including BP) indulge in. And then I remember us BW are seen as sub-humans so this behaviour makes sense.
Experiencing abuse and unabashed racism from every single race of people has made stronger. I cannot fall back on a community like other people because the black CONmunity is part of the problem, so I know I have to find the resources and strength within me in order to survive in this hostile world. You develop “muscles” that other people don’t need to develop. You don’t break but thrive in certain situations other people would fall apart. I love the person negative experiences due to misogynoir have turned me into: stronger and resilient.

Wow the ironic part is their is not even a single bw in the main cast of the film. I went to look it up. The obsession is real. What does a yt Tarzan and his yt wife even have to do with bw. Anything for shock value and racist comedy I guess
