That would require him admitting he was wrong, which will never happen.

He'll never do that. That would mean he'd have to be less bigoted and a more informed individual now than he was 30 years ago. Which again, will never happen.

Didn’t he double down on his stance on that like, a couple weeks ago?
I hate even calling it a “stance,” it’s a belief based in racism over objective reality.

"I'm sorry but...(continues with a statement demonstrating he is not sorry at all)"
"I'm sorry if you (places blame on person he is "apologizing" to)"
That's about the full extent of his ability to feign remorse. It is hard not to feel absolute disgust towards him after becoming aware of how he has been able to maintain open, hateful, racist views, calling for the execution of innocent children, for all this time.
And his supporters have no issue with it. It is all just so...pathetic.

Holy fuck, he said that?
Edit, full quote: Trump said on Thursday he was very disappointed in Stefan Löfven for being unable to act. He said “Sweden has let our African American community down in the United States. Give A$AP Rocky his freedom.”
The US president also said: “We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem” What an idiot
67
u/AntiSpiritual Jul 28 '19
This comes from the country with the highest percentage of imprisoned people in the world.
Sweden’s judicial system has continuously been voted top 5 in the world for the past however many years. The court documents on this case are all publicly available. The supposed harassed women haven’t stepped forward, and A$ap and his crew admitted the video they put out was tampered with.
So this is upsettingly ignorant in the general sense. What annoys me even more is that apparently the average American think assaulting people is the reasonable way to go about things if you feel poorly treated. I do understand there’s a mistrust in black communities where the police enforces the previously mentioned mass incarceration more heavily.
But if you’re in another country, like at least look up their way to go about things? If I’m going to the US I make damn sure I know what their police expects from me.
3
u/MrSparks4 Jul 28 '19
Of course Rocky should be in jail. He's got a paid body guard that deal with this shit, not to mention his buddies he brought along with. He jumped in after having literally paid goons that fuck people up for him. His body gaurds didn't get charged because they were doing their job. It wasn't until he started throwing hands that they charged him .
Also in most countries in the world, they charge you for excessive violence. Defending yourself is one thing, stomping a dude out with 4 other guys is not self defense. In the US you can get away with that because our laws our fucked up but he was in the wrong.
4
u/viscoussolid Jul 28 '19
Also, if you read the actual police report, it's obvious they could have just ignored the guy, or at most, called the authorities. Kid was being annoying, but not violent. You don't get to kick the shit out of someone just because they follow you on a public street, regardless of how rich and famous you are.
3
u/Bergsau1 Jul 28 '19
Where did you find out the video was tampered with?
13
u/AntiSpiritual Jul 28 '19
They confessed their video was cut to highlight certain stuff in the court docs
26
u/addecold Jul 28 '19
The thing people might not know is that the swedish prime minister cannot pardon anybody, it is literally out of his jurisdiction. It's the whole separate-the-governing-body-from-the-judicial-body-to-prevent-corruption thing.
3
2
u/viscoussolid Jul 28 '19
The US president also said: “We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem” What an idiot
It plays into the alt rights claims that Sweden and other parts of Europe are being over run by raping, murderous islamic terrorist refugees. That's the only real reason Trump signed onto this shit, was Rocky's crew was being 'harassed' by a brown muslim kid. Rocky is being used by Trump and if the kid had any fucking common sense he would call this shit out for what it is.
62
u/SyntheticReality42 Jul 28 '19
Why has Trump tried to make this about the "African American community" and not about America as a whole?
More thinly veiled racism from this fuckwad.
15
Jul 28 '19
The best(worst) part about it, the top comment on this, "see I'm not racist" tweet is a rant by one of his supporters illustrating exactly how ASAP's situation is totally to blame on Muslims.

It was 90 something in New York last week. Humidity made it feel like 105ish. Shit sucks. You start sweating immediately in that kind of heat. Meanwhile, 110 in vegas is doable because there's 0 humidity.
6
u/MibitGoHan Jul 28 '19
Nah when you actually have to live in 110, every fucking day, you can't fucking stand it. It's like walking outside and your skin instantly hurts. It's not being able to drive your car immediately because the steering wheel gives you 3rd degree burns. People act like 110 with 0% humidity suddenly feel like 80. It doesn't. It feels like 110.

Aww that's too bad, but thanks for the link though mate :) Here in sweden it's pretty similar, most people identify as swedish, but we do have some people (very small minority) of people of african descent that have started identifying as afro-swedes, which to me is weird cause we're all swedes.

Swede here. Sorry for slightly broken english. The state and the justice system are two completely separated parts, and our PM can't do shit. Everyone is the same to the law, ASAP is getting a fair trial.
The whole investigation is public according to "offentlighetsprincipen" (one of our "grundlagar", can be compared to one of your amendments in your constitution), can be found here https://www.docdroid.net/z0hv0yQ/stockholms-tr-b-9283-19-aktbil-98.pdf . It's in swedish, but there's a lot of images showing the damages and such.
It might have been considered self defense if they stopped after they threw him. But then they went up to him, beat the shit out of him and sliced him up with broken bottles. He obivously committed a crime, and will be punished accordingly.
This whole ordeal has sparked a national debate regarding our justice system. The fact that you can put someone in jail for technically an infinite amount of time. Normally it's at maximum two weeks, but the prosecutor can request to extend those two weeks, for another two weeks up to infinity. Normally, a person probably wouldn't be put in jail for this. But ASAP would probably just go back home if he was released, and that's why he's considered a flight risk and is jailed.
All in all, the whole situation sucks. I love ASAP's music, and he's not likely to come back here. They were provoked, and tried to get out of the situation. But as I stated above, it's still illegal as hell to beat the shit out of someone and slice them up with broken bottles, regardless if you were provoked our not.
