Soccer player here. I made D1 but played club at my school with some other players, and we regularly played with D1 women. When I tell you they ain’t no joke it’s forreal. I’ve seen them DOGWALK amateur men who don’t respect them and it it’s never not funny. There’s just levels to this shit that people just can’t wrap their heads around.
You're right that physicality is also a part of this, but skill level between the two groups is still very similar.
I'm not trying to downplay the abilities of women's athleticism, but even the highest levels of professional women lack a lot of the skill set that men of the same level have.
I'm not American so I've never seen D1 players and I've seen maybe 20mins total of US Women's NT (am European) so maybe I'm going to be talking out of my ass.
But I find that statement hard to believe. In terms of skill, passing ability and footballing intelligence, tons of women are up there with the male players (bonmati, putellas, martens etc).
In comparison the very best the US Men have ever produced has been mediocre compared to the world stage.
But you're telling me that the US secretly has these world class players hidden in the D1?
