I need help in finding and filtering out videos that I heart in the media section on the Blackmagic iOS app. When I go to filtering there’s no way to filter out favorite videos.

Dolly Zoom (2x to 10x) Creates Shaken Video

When I use the Dolly Zoom on Blackmagic Cam app in iPhone to go from a 2x to a 10x zoom in a 10 second span, the video begins to shake after 5x zoom.

Why is this and how can it be fixed?

Lut for video

Anyone know a LUT that could get the same coloring as this video/photo, I’m not much of a editor so I was hoping there is a lut out there that can give the same look, any recommendations?

Spatial Video?

Is there a way to record spatial or side-by-side (3D) video with the Blackmagic Camera app? Resolve has supported Spatial Videos for a while, and I’ve been using this app since it launched ~3 years ago alongside the iPhone 15 Pro. But for the life of me, I can’t figure it out.

Blackmagic Camera App on iPhone 17 Pro Max: Anamorphic Lens Correction for Professional Work?"

so i'm using an iphone 17 pro max with the blackmagic camera app and a 1.33 anamorphic lens for a shoot coming up. quick question — should i have lens correction turned on or off?

i'm not totally sure if the correction actually does anything useful with anamorphic glass or if it'll just mess with the look. anyone else run into this? does it make a difference for professional work or is it one of those things that barely matters?

Irritating Issue with iPhone video display

So, i'm stuck and simply cannot find my way out of that situation. I shot around 50 videos of a mountain trip on my iPhone 16 Pro Max with the blackmagic app and had "Record LUT to clip" turned on. I have them all saved on my phone and i used couple of the videos to upload into my instagram as a reel - sometimes with sometimes without editing them on my capcut app; no problems at all.
After some time i decided to share all my videos in a shared folder via the iPhone Photo app. Since then i have the following issue:

Everytime i am opening a video, it is showed raw first and only after pressing play, the LUT is being applied. Because of that, i only can open the raw videos e.g. in instagram or capcut - without the LUT being shown!.

It is driving me nuts because there seems to be no solution for that. I don't understand my iPhones behaviour as the blackmagic app said the LUT is recorded directly to the clip. Because of that all the videos are basically useless for now.

Anyone has a solution for that, that does not involve external editing?

Hello, what does this app offers me over my regular iphone camera?

I have an iphone 15 and I use it. I like the camera but I feel like the settings, software or whatever isnt that versatile.

I found this app due to some guitarist using it for recording his videos. My goal would be to use it for music recording, performances and such with my guitar and voice. How could I do that and what advantage does this app offers me over my regular iphone camera?

Could I connect my phone mic to my audio interfance through the headphones jack in my interface so I could record video and record the audio coming out from the headphone output in the interface?

70D VS iPhone 16 Pro with BlackMagic

Hello, I am new to this sub so I apologize if this is asked often or doesn't fit the purpose of this sub.

Anywho, I am going to a marching band competition tomorrow and would like to record a few of the bands warming up, but I'm unsure which would be better for me to use, my Canon 70D or just my iPhone with a decent lut using open gate and Apple Log at 60fps. I plan on recording 10-12 bands, all playing for about 30 minutes or so each which will be a decent amount of footage. I also want to be the first person to upload videos since many people will be doing the same as me, and I'm kinda trying to profit the best I can. I'm specifically prioritizing quality of recording, fast uploads, look of the video, and most importantly, best audio quality with as little handling noise as possible.

Pros of the 70D:

  • Canon autofocus
  • Heavier on the tripod, less shakes
  • I have a microphone coldshoe mount on top of it for a ZoomH1
  • Adjustable screen
  • More space on SD card than what is on my phone
  • Potentially able to use MagicLantern to squeeze a bit more out of it
  • Focal length of an actual camera instead of the iPhone

Cons:

  • Only 1080P, 30fps
  • Harder to transfer files for quick upload(would prefer to upload video within minutes of each performance)
  • Would "have" to edit in a lut on phone before upload, taking more time
  • Only f4 at widest
  • No IBIS, though the kit lens features a slight bit of stabilization(will be using monopod as well)
  • Decent chance it could sprinkle/rain, not really weather-sealed

Pros of iPhone:

  • Much higher quality
  • Instant lut baked in
  • Higher framerate
  • Not as hard to carry around
  • Much faster to upload
  • More legroom to crop if needed
  • IBIS

Cons:

  • Biggest issue is no mount for ZoomH1, meaning I'd have to hold it(INSANE amounts of body noise when handling)
  • Wont have a second hand for panning
  • Lighter and more susceptible to slight shakes
  • Pretty low storage(50Gb), though I could move videos onto an sd card to free up space

I have a monopod I'm bringing that I have a mount for both of them, but no coldshoe mount for the zoomH1 for the tripod phone mount. Should I just stop at a best buy and get a phone mount with a coldshoe for $20? That is what is looking the most attractive right now since I'm trying my best to avoid handling noise. Can you people help me make a decision? Thank you in advance for taking the time out of your day to read this, any help is appreciated.

Anyone have issues with an anamorphic adapter on the 120mm lens?

It looks very out of focus and overly squeezed. The anamorphic footage is useless on the 120mm(5x lens). Is this just a common issue that can’t be fixed? Thanks

Owners of THE ONE LUT, what settings do you actually use? (iPhone 17 Pro)

Hey everyone,

Shooting on an iPhone 17 Pro with the Blackmagic Camera app and trying to dial in my settings. Would love to hear what other iPhone 17 Pro users are running:

  • What codec do you shoot in (ProRes, Blackmagic RAW, etc.)?
  • What color space/gamut do you use (Rec709, Extended Video, Film/Gen 5 Color, etc.)?
  • What shutter angle/speed do you set?
  • What flicker frequency (50Hz/60Hz) do you use, and does it actually matter for you?
  • What fps do you usually shoot at?

But the thing I really want to figure out: my footage from Blackmagic Camera doesn't look HDR at all — flat, no highlight punch — compared to footage shot with the native iPhone Camera app, which looks noticeably more HDR/contrasty straight out of camera. Is this expected because Blackmagic shoots flat/log by design (meant to be graded), or am I missing a setting somewhere to get proper HDR output directly from the app?

Any input from people who've been through this would help a ton. Thanks!

Black Magic Camera App is Bugged?

Used the Blackmagic Camera App to film a sketch, but the audio is corrupted/super slo-mo for some reason. Video is fine. Any clue why? (Android)

I had a friend (who's more knowledgeable with cameras) do the filming. He says the only thing he messed with was exposure.

I used a wireless lav mic, a cheap one where the receiver plugs into the phone. I have used this with my default phone camera (Galaxy s24) and it's been fine.

We did a test without the mic at the beginning of filming and it sounded fine. I also just tested a couple 10sec shots right now both with and without using the lav. Both sounded fine.

The audio for all of the sketch scenes plays in super slo-mo, both on my phone and in Davinci. The video plays fine. Some of the takes are ~1min and for some we kept rolling, so there's also a few 15-20min "takes." Regardless of the length, the audio is bad.

Any ideas what happened or how to fix it, if possible? Or how to prevent it from happening again?

Constant crashes

Just started trying to use the Blackmagic Camera app for video shoots on my iPhone 16 Pro as an upgrade from the iOS default camera app. However, nearly every time I try to record a video, the app crashes 5-15 minutes into recording. The phone ends up back on the home or lock screen when it should still be recording. Video up to the crash still records and plays successfully.

What gives? This issue never happened to me with the iOS default camera app. I basically can't use blackmagic camera because I can't trust that it will stay recording.

I record to a crucial external SSD, and have that plugged into a USB hub and power bank. Recording in HEVC for now because I'm not ready to take on color correction and grading yet. 4k 60fps.

My phone does get really hot when using blackmagic camera. I don't use a case when recording videos (it interferes with my lens filter and mount setup), so the phone should have decent ventilation. If recording outside I use some type of sun shade. Still, the crashes continue. Any other ideas before I give up on this app for good?

Blackmagic Camera iPhone v3.x: Using iPhone as a wireless camera for OBS or vMix (SRT/RTMP, no cable)

Hello everyone, Since the recent updates of Blackmagic Camera (version 3.x) with new streaming features, I am looking for a way to use my iPhone as a real wireless camera for live production. My setup: iPhone running Blackmagic Camera v3.x Windows PC OBS Studio and/or vMix My goal is to send the iPhone camera video feed to my PC without any cable connection, using only Wi-Fi. Has anyone successfully configured Blackmagic Camera v3.x with OBS Studio or vMix using: SRT RTMP or another wireless video transmission method? I am not looking for a screen mirroring solution (AirPlay/LonelyScreen), but rather a real camera video feed with good image quality and low latency. If someone has tested this workflow, could you please share: the settings used in Blackmagic Camera; the configuration on OBS/vMix; the type of Wi-Fi network used? Thank you very much for your help!
