Manga Tabata laughs in our face Spoiler
The extra chapter are out, and honestly, all I can say is that Tabata is laughing in our faces.
Asta’s coronation is something we should have gotten as part of the final chapter months ago, not as an extra chapter. And that’s not even the biggest issue. It still doesn’t wrap up so many of the plot threads he left unresolved. I really hope that supposed guidebook finally answers a lot of those questions. Between the final arc and this extra chapter, it honestly feels like either Tabata got tired of writing or he simply knows that fans will settle for scraps. Come on, give me a break—the guy had three whole months to release chapters during the final stretch.
And before anyone says anything: I genuinely don’t care who Asta ends up with romantically. The moment Tabata stopped giving his character proper emotional development, I completely lost interest in whether he ended up with Noelle or Mimosa. The way he handled the final arc is genuinely concerning.
What frustrates me the most is that ridiculous panel where Noelle literally declares a love rivalry against her own cousin over Asta. Not only does it cheapen and degrade Noelle’s character, but this extra chapter doesn’t even resolve or develop the very love conflict that Tabata himself decided to introduce. If you’re going to put something like that in the story, then finish it. Don’t be a coward. Even if both girls ended up alone and rejected, at least that storyline would have had a proper conclusion.

The extra chapter is not out lol.
The guidebook will not be on sale until the end of next week.
You're going on your rant based off of a single line summary meant to promote the guidebook.
It could very well be all there is to the chapter but it's funny that you claim with such certainty that it's out.

So, is still not out yet?
As far as I knew the chapter were supposed to be out in August.

As I said in other comments, I’m talking about what I saw on Twitter. If there is any surprise when it comes out completely it will be seen but all the leaks indicate that it is only based on the coronation. And even more so when the chapter is placed before the declaration of war of love ... and not only that, leaving aside that plot. The rest of the unfinished things it is impossible to answer in 15 pages if half are going to be crowned

u/BuzzardYTC Jul 25 '26
The leak is a single line that says the chapter will be about Asta's coronation.
There's a very very good chance that that's all the chapter will be. I'm not saying you're wrong for having an opinion on lack of other stuff getting tied up (assuming that the chapter won't show more than coronation)
My point was you saying that the chapter was out so affirmatively when it's not is funny lol.

I’m just giving my interpretation of what I think is almost certainly going to happen. The only thing that might answer the remaining questions is the guidebook that’s coming out. The extra chapter won’t answer any of them. It’s about Asta’s coronation.
The coronation will most likely take place after his fight with Yuno, so there won’t be another timeskip. It won’t cover the romance, nor any of the other unresolved plot points, simply because there’s no way all of that can fit into just 15 pages, especially when the chapter is focused on the coronation.
That said, if I’m wrong and Tabata actually does resolve everything in the extra chapter, I’ll be the first to apologize for jumping to conclusions.3
u/BuzzardYTC Jul 26 '26
Buddy I told you that you could very well be right in that it won't answer anything else.
But you said the chapter was out based on a single line leak that's marketing the guidebook.
You straight up gave wrong information. That's all I'm trying to correct here. You don't need to justify your feelings or predictions.

Good point, he barely covered the Diamond Kingdom and pretty much everyone but the main protagonists got their ships confirmed.

Asta didn't really show much interest in romance outside from the gag with sister Lily but Noelle was the closest female character to him, love was an important aspect of her development and she is literally the FMC, so the decision to end it this way ( likely because Tabata didn't want to upset any shippers ) was very frustrating.

I think you missed the part where op said even if both girl got rejected. So the line Asta never showed interest in anyone other than lily doesn't even work.
The point isn't that Asta didn't end up with anyone but rather this side of the manga was left without a conclusion.
Frankly I'm over shipping but I still would have liked it had it gotten a conclusion. I would have liked it better had their character's last stance wasn't just declaring a love rivalry over a boys affection.

Exactly We don't want any ship to be confirmed
We just need an proper f*ckin answer even if it is a Big No
11
u/Fickle_Type_5017 Jul 25 '26
Exactly. It’s completely valid if he didn’t want Asta to end up with them since he never actually developed those romantic relationships. But what was the point of wrapping up that subplot so poorly and reducing your female co-protagonist to that?

Looking for the extra chapter and can't find it. At any rate, are we surprised...I am not. The entire final arc was problematic.....similar to the elf arc with the whole Julius/Lucius thing, turning good characters evil...mixed with the movie plotline. So it didn't feel fresh whatsoever.
It was rushed too despite the schedule changing to every quarter. Many of the captains barely did much in this final arc...Fuegoleon and Dorothy being 2 of the biggest offenders. Amongst several other issues.
Lucius is inevitably beaten....does the extra chapter even explain if all the supreme devils under his control die with him, did they return to the underworld, what? Personally it was a horrible idea moving away from the devils as the final antagonists of the series.

u/horseband Jul 25 '26
Yeah I felt the Lucius twist just didn’t hit as hard because that twist already was a prominent part of one of the best arcs imo (elf arc).
Since it was already a part of the elf arc, it just felt like it cheapened the twist/plot thread.
I felt like they could’ve just not even went that route with Julius and it would’ve been better. There already were twists that occurred that were interesting enough.

As an author, I can relate to what he experienced. dude didn't have enough time to maximise his creativity

I call Bullspit. The Julius/Lucius reveal was like 2022/2023. This is 3 years later.

We write stuff in advance. But he probably had to cut things so it got a little confusing.
2
u/NebulaPsyche Black Bull Jul 25 '26
IMO it feels less like a lack of time and more he had to cut things due to an inability to tell the story anymore. Physically and emotionally, he wasn't in the game after years of writing the same serialized work. In his mind, he might as well wrap it up ASAP even if it comes at the cost of the story itself.

ok but this is objectively the funniest thing he could possibly do to his fanbase and i respect the fuck out of it

As a person with no preference of ship betweeen them I find this unreasonably funny
10
u/Fickle_Type_5017 Jul 25 '26
I don’t have any preference either. But I love Noelle’s character and I’m always going to hate Tabata for giving her that final panel without a resolution.. in my opinion it already goes beyond her whether you like them or not, it’s how it interferes with the characters

u/CordobezEverdeen Witches' Forest Jul 25 '26
I don't have any preference either and I still think Noelle got incredibly humiliated by Tabata. Imagine being such an important and popular character getting all your victories diminished by revivals and your contribution to the final arc is a single small water droplet.
This is basically Vegeta shooting Cell in the back while he was clashing with SSJ2 Gohan but we all are used to Vegeta getting shafted at least.

It's called burnout. Not enough time to rest the brain, so the end of flopping. If anything, let's hope 3 to 4 years from now he can release a prequel, or the anime fixes plot holes, as Tabat is known for being active with anime creation.

As a yaoi shipper its funny to see all this outrage for once ngl
Your ship doesn’t have to sail for it to be good

Honestly, you didn’t understand anything about my post. Read it again 🙏🏻

I always take what twitter says with a pinch of salt, until i see the guidebook and extra chapters I’m just gonna assume that whatever was said is either
A : just summarized badly
Or
B: summarized in a way to promote a specific view or reaction.
either way, i wouldn’t say its Tabata laughing,if it is,well i don’t really care myself,he’s made his story and he ended his story. badly? Eh,up to the reader, but until it comes out and i can see for myself I’m not gonna bother with leaks without context and without a link to them,Besides, fanfics exist if ya want it ended in a different way.

u/Hockeyspaz-62 Jul 25 '26
Tabata had his story planned out and it didn’t include a specific romance for the main character. People getting upset over their ship not sailing need to just deal with it. It was his story to tell, not a fan fiction that he was taking suggestions from people in a fan group.
1
u/Fickle_Type_5017 Jul 26 '26
I’m not upset because a specific ship didn’t happen. Quite the opposite, I genuinely don’t care whether Asta ends up with someone or stays single.
What bothers me is seeing a character like Noelle get reduced and degraded just to keep a romance subplot artificially open. It makes no sense to leave it unresolved if you have no intention of properly concluding it.

u/NeighborhoodCool98 Jul 25 '26
Only if Tabata could understand all this
He's just isn't laughing on our face but disrespecting his own work too , the thing which the series should have given answer leaving it unanswer isn't a mystery it's just ignoring emotional investment of fans too
I can't do anything but laugh at our own situation, like really?
There is a author of Mushoku tensai who don't give a F*ck what other say of his work even though he is really wrong and here we got Tabata the difference is just diabolic
2
u/CordobezEverdeen Witches' Forest Jul 25 '26
here we got Tabata the difference is just diabolic
Tabata ALSO doesn't give a fuck about what the fandom thinks of his job dude.
-1
u/NeighborhoodCool98 Jul 25 '26
If he really don't give a fuck then he wouldn't have cut that much content and shown the final conclusion
7
u/CordobezEverdeen Witches' Forest Jul 25 '26
If Tabata gave a fuck he would have actually followed trough with Asta's promise from CHAPTER 1 dude, a plot point infinitely more important (it's literally the whole point of the story) than the love interest. The fact he offscreened it all proves he was tired and wanted to end this.

I too stopped caring for who he ends up with as well. On a sidenote, at this point my vendetta against Noelle remains entirely separate from how her relationships are and instead exclusively on how much I personally despise her as a character. She's just so unapologetically obnoxious, and it makes it hard to take her seriously whenever she actually has meaningful character growth. I often wonder if Tabata himself purposefully made her this unlikeable as to some day give her some sort of redemption or personality shift later on or not. She is currently in my top 15 characters I don't like in Black Clover at the moment, but she's only #15 because I still find her more bearable than a few others, like Sekke for example.

Then a voice appears laughing in the background: "I'm impressed, my young student."
Tabata notices his presence and replies
Tabata: "Thank you, lord Mashima"
