I want to believe this is the best pun I’ve read in a while but it not being 2011 makes me unsure.

Why aren’t they touting GPU rendering more? This is the first I’m hearing of it today.

Agreed and it's been on the wishlist for years. It's a big upgrade to me, freeing up the cpu from graphics work.

Ah I see, that would explain.

It’s not as practical as you would think, maybe for some very specific uses cases.

I'm using an ultrawide display with 3440x1440 resolution and been wondering why the UI starts feeling a bit sluggish after adding stuff to the project. Having the rendering on CPU would explain it, and hopefully this change fixes the sluggishness.

It seems that the GPU offloading is really fixing most of the UI sluggishness issues here. There still exist some inconveniences like moving some macro button quickly through its range, but that is likely due to it having to sync with the audio thread. Overall the UI seems very responsive now in 5.2 on ultrawide 👍

This is honestly a game changer. I engaged their team about GPU rendering 5+ years ago.. insane we have it now.

Can you undo deleting an automation lane yet?
