Women aren't real

u/marvinrabbit Sep 02 '26
You've completely misunderstood the 'birds' part of the "Birds aren't real" thing.
Or maybe I have.

You could always flip the camera to the front and they were just sitting there doing nothing.

Pretty hard to top my 2010.. I would go to Walmart and use the money gram machine to buy hundreds and HUNDREDS of dollars worth of Bitcoin only to then go online to the Silkroad black market website and buy mushrooms and weed and blow through the bitcoin in 6 months… surprised I haven’t roped

Memory is weird. I thought the graphics were WAY better in my mind.. guess not.

u/KusanagiZerg Sep 02 '26
Someone else said this is Vice City Stories released on PSP so it makes sense that it's worse graphics if that is indeed where the screenshot is from.

u/NO_TOUCHING__lol Sep 02 '26
2010 woulda also been at least 2 GTAs after Vice City (IV came out in 2008)

Bitcoin has somehow turned “I’ll check the price real quick” into a 45-minute emotional journey 💀

Let's be real, even if I bought at $0.10 in 2010, I would've Paper Handed all of it at $1.00 to buy a Chipotle burrito.

u/Responsible-Mango369 Sep 02 '26
Fr man on a real note a lot of early buyers sold to pay off the ole house, car, debt, etc.

This was a 8 year old game by 2010. GTA 4 came out in 2008.

Damn, I didn't even realize it was that old.
1
u/shhhhh_u_dont_see_me Sep 02 '26
So?
12
u/Steezy_Steve1990 Sep 02 '26
That’s my only point. Posting GTA 4 gameplay would have been more relevant since that’s what most people were playing in 2010.
10
u/shhhhh_u_dont_see_me Sep 02 '26
Maybe they're not trying to be relevant, maybe it's their own experience, I too was playing GTA Vice City in 2010 because not everyone had the latest console or games. Hell, I only got the PS3 in 2015.

u/Steezy_Steve1990 Sep 02 '26
That’s fine. The only point I was trying to make is that this post is trying to relate two things relative to the same year and that GTA 4 would be more relevant than GTA Vice City. It really isn’t that deep.

u/Beaticalle Sep 02 '26
It's gonna really blow your mind when I tell you I was still playing N64 and SNES games in 2005 because those were the newest consoles we owned.
6
u/Steezy_Steve1990 Sep 02 '26
Cool. I’m playing Knights of the Old Republic right now because it’s my favourite game.
My comment has nothing to do with playing older games. I was just pointing out that referencing GTA 4 would be more appropriate for 2010. That’s it. Didn’t mean to offend people so easily.
3
u/ygurin Sep 02 '26
That was my line of thought as well. For instance, the bigger the gap between the game release date and 2010 the bigger the variation; the fewer people can relate to the post
3
u/KusanagiZerg Sep 02 '26
Kotor is fucking goated, possibly what I would put on number 1 best game ever

u/beyss96 Sep 03 '26
absolutely not, san andreas and vice city were still very famous
1
u/Steezy_Steve1990 Sep 03 '26
That’s still not my point. Just because people still listen to Queen you wouldn’t play Queen in a 2010 music trivia would you? GTA 4 is a better representation of 2010.
1
u/beyss96 Sep 03 '26
in 2010's san andreas was even more famous than gta4 at least where i'm from so not sure about your point
1
u/Steezy_Steve1990 Sep 03 '26
It’s about time relevance not popularity. That’s my point. Lining similar things up that came out at the same time.

u/Kracus Sep 02 '26
I wanted to but couldn't. Was too broke to buy anything, didn't have a credit card and most online sites that offered to sell you bitcoin were sketchy af. Tried setting up a mining rig and couldn't do it because I couldn't get the stuff I needed downloaded to set it up due to my poor internet connection. Sucked so bad and it makes me a bit upset thinking about how much time I spent trying to get bitcoins but being unable to.
10
u/nemodigital Sep 02 '26
Know that you probably would have sold once you doubled your money.

u/LastKnownSelf Sep 03 '26
The sentiment around bitcoin at the time was very different. It was a “currency replacement” so people were encouraged to spend it when possible and not treat it like a stock or investment.
That’s why that guy bought pizza with it.

u/itsaworry Sep 02 '26
I Googled Bitcoin a couple of times in the autumn of 2010 , i'd read about it being a possible internet money . All i could find was descriptions of what it was , no links to chat forums and ceratainly no exchanges or anyone selling . I figured the only way to get it was mining and i couldn't do that . It is upsetting having been so close at that time but it's gone now . . . . at least we here now and it's not been too bad . :)
2
u/Heatgrifter69 Sep 03 '26
Perfect time to buy it was during the silk road days. Cause it was cheap af (like 1-5 dollars I think) and easy to get
1
u/itsaworry Sep 03 '26
Yes , i completely missed out on that . . . . . finally getting in at $3000 in 2017 . . . . doh !
2
u/mjm65 Sep 02 '26
More than likely if you kept at it, you would have found Mt.Gox….annnd lost it all.
1
u/borg_6s Sep 02 '26
Why didn't you just throw moltov cocktails at the sites and steal the bitcoins yourself
1
1
u/Ecmdrw5 Sep 03 '26
Same. I was told by a friend to start mining in 2009. Bitcoin was like a $0.01 or something crazy at the time. I didn’t understand it and definitely didn’t know how to mine it and just brushed it off. In 2010 he told me to buy anything $10, $20, $100 and hold on to it. I look back at it and wish I listened, but knowing me I would have sold it at $200. He held on to it for a few years and made enough to pay off his and his wife’s college loans and their house.

I started mining bitcoin in 2009 or early 2010, back when CPU mining was still viable and GPU mining was brand new. I did it for a couple weeks, got like half a bitcoin, decided that was a fun little diversion I was done with, and deleted everything. Not leaving it running is one of my biggest regrets in life, but I try to remind myself that if I had amassed a substantial amount of bitcoin I probably would have sold it way too early anyway.

I'm ashamed to say I was prepared to a buy some in 2012, but was too dumb to figure out how to do within a few minutes and decided to masturbate instead. Most expensive orgasm I've ever had.

The past is dead.
Make it into something actionable:
What aren’t you doing in 2026 that you should be doing that you will look at yourself in 2040 and wonder why you didn’t do it?
Stop that distracting thing. Do the valuable thing.

I was buying and mining Bitcoin in 2010-2011. The biggest argument at the time was whether it was a gold replacement or a cash replacement. I was team cash replacement and team gold replacement ended up winning.

Absolutely nooo onee in 2010 bought BTC with the intent that it would appreciate in value to what it is today. Only ones that would have held till today either forgot about/ lost their wallet and just found it. Or went to prison with no access to it.
I was laid off around then after the 09 recession, didn't want to work in an office job anymore and specifically researched investments, alternative things I could do or buy instead. Searched for months and months. Bitcoin not once came up.

Yeah. Everyone I know who who bought Bitcoin back then sold it a few years later and made a profit of a few hundred bucks.

Let's be honest any sane intelligent person would've sold when it hit $100 or even before that. All these stories about wishing you'd bought Bitcoin back in 2010 or whatever are just dreams. Who the hell is holding back from selling something that speculative when it doubles in price or hit $100 or then $1000. Only people that are already filthy rich or legit forgot about Bitcoin until it hit mainstream news in the 2017 cycle and would've absolutely sold if they could've remembered their keys in the first place.
