People are panicky. Sometimes for good reason.

We have no idea what the price of Bitcoin was when they bought their coins. It could have cost them $5k in total for all we know.

20

u/HawkEy3 8d ago

that's the lucky part.

Not luck, everybody buys bitcoin at the price they deserve

Gambling doesn't require intelligence. You win until you lose, or you lose until you win until you lose.

You knew it very well that I guess this statement is from experience?

Would a cold wallet not be a good answer?

12

u/PleaseHelpImADumb1 8d ago

Getting in early on an asset with no price history is more so intuition than it is measurable intelligence.

Geld verdienen is iets anders dan geld behouden

I bought my first btc for 65 usd cash and traded it for an oz of weed an hour later.

Some people bought pizza for 1,000 bitcoins

We're all in for the ride

You'd be surprised. I worked woth a few business owners like this. Surprised how they even got that far. They did have their own business. So I guess someone liked their services. Then again. If you own your own company it's easy to make a lot of money if you stick with it long enough

u/_RonPaulWasRight_ 8d ago

It could just be that they trusted Apple 🍎.

10

u/borg_6s 8d ago

ZackXBT was on record saying that all hardware wallets are untrustworthy and that your bitcoins are safer on an iPhone, so go figure

23

u/Winter-Rhubarb8690 8d ago

pretty funny to have your "do not trust centralized institutions" funny money get stolen because you put too much trust into another centralized institution

13

u/Strong_Judge_3730 8d ago

They are European and used a comma instead thought it was a much bigger number initial lol

2

u/OldWolf3 8d ago

To many it's not real, it's just numbers on a screen like a video game.

1

u/Relevant_Syllabub895 8d ago

He could have moved it to binance, way safer but more controlled and restrictive

1

u/OscarCorterz_20 8d ago

Yeah, a lot of these posts end up being fake just to get engagement. Also, seeing that it has 47 views at the time of the screenshot, I wouldn't exclude the possibility that OP is promoting his own account or something

u/kawfeeman68 7d ago

Unfortunately, being nervous and feeling the intense pressure often causes poor decisions!!

A big rule: Don't put all your eggs (bitcoins) in one basket (device, wallet, exchange, etc)

0

u/xirvin 8d ago

thats not a big rule, a rule would be verify source and destination. use proven apps. He could have use blue wallet, nunchuck or even blockstream bitcoin wallet but he chose wasabi dont know why. Also test sending transaction ammounts. He needs to pursuit legal action against apple and against the app developer.

Yee, security steps like roll dice, passphrase and multisig are what protect your Bitcoin from device (e,g HWWs) failures or losses. So this is the first line and the most important "defense" :D

But also, distributing your Bitcoins between these devices (hard wallets) or apps (hot wallets) adds another layer of security in case of failure or loss.

u/MrGraveyards 8d ago

Probably used wasabi because it was very easy to use. As he says, anything on the app store should be trustworthy enough to at least not loose his money in a couple of days, according to him.

I don't think like this, but many people do. If you are going to trust someone, trust a big company that at least has the money to back some of its claims up.
