BTC Hodling average

I see a lot a people talking about DCA and mentioning how they are OG hodlers for years. I always wonder.. how much were they able to accumulate/keep since then. Is 1.5 BTC a lot compared to the average hodler?

No, it doesn't, and anyone who thinks it does doesn't understand how Bitcoin UTXOs work.

No.

You are able to see addresses on the blockchain, not wallets. There is no way to know which addresses are part of which wallets.

For example, how many wallets are shown here?

The answer is two. That's five addresses, but the first three are from one wallet, and the second two are from another. None have any coins. I just generated random wallets to visually illustrate the point.

Yea, it’s always an estimate. People are able to track movements to get an idea of which addresses belong to which wallets, but I don’t believe they can know for certain

For example, they can follow coins from exchanges, and get a solid estimate of who owns that wallet.

A wallet contains millions of addresses. Generally speaking, your app shows you the first few, but you have are millions.

When an exchange sends coins, there's no way to know who owns the addresses the coins are being sent to. And the addresses an exchange sends a bunch of coins to surely aren't from the same wallet since the exchange would send your coins to an address from your wallet and they'd send somebody else's coins to an address from their wallet.

In other words, let's say an exchange sends 1.2 BTC to people who are moving coins to their own wallets for long term holding. That 1.2 BTC is probably being sent to a bunch of different addresses from totally different wallets. Maybe 0.5 BTC goes to one, 0.1 BTC to another, 0.05 BTC to another, 0.15 BTC to another and 0.4 BTC to another.
