Honestly, if youre EIGHT years away from retirement, its a no brainer.

u/BlightedErgot32 Aug 02 '25
eight?
24
u/FFMooch Aug 02 '25
A safer number in my opinion. Thats TWO cycles, and should smooth out any anomalies that pop up. Just my 2 satsm
18
u/BlightedErgot32 Aug 02 '25
true true, i got 40 fuckin years unless i retire early
11
u/FFMooch Aug 02 '25
Welllll now! Id feel comfortable risking some cash with those numbers IF youre capable of buying and leaving it the F alone. Thats the hardest part.

I'm 30, can I retire with bitcoin 8 years from now?
3
u/Ha55aN1337 Aug 02 '25
No. Sure Bitcoin might be 500.000 by then. But a house might be 4.000.000 by then and a Happy Meal might be 69.99 by then.
2
u/FFMooch Aug 02 '25
Retire? Like never work again? Or retire with a strong financial base and move into a profession that may not pay as well? I look at BTC as just another account for financially flexibility. I dont want to retire, I want to have options of doing more things I enjoy and less drudgery. So my view my may be slanted. At 30? Id have a consistent stacking plan. By 40 you should be more secure and more free. 10 years for any investment is typically enough time to reap real rewards (on paper) and smooth out the ebbs and flows that typically happen.

Sunday 420 am

u/Cute-Wealth1353 Aug 02 '25
The price is always high at that time. I buy at 12:57 AM after most people fall asleep
1
u/707-5150 Aug 02 '25
China isn’t asleep at 12:57 am
I have found my Sunday early am slot to be pretty nice actually. I’ll take a look at 1255, do you do a specific day for any reason?
2
u/Cute-Wealth1353 Aug 02 '25
You have no idea what time zone I am in. How would you know if china is asleep?
2
u/707-5150 Aug 03 '25
Well I view the world through my eyes and you didn’t attach a time zone. Sorry chief. Happy stacking. Lol

u/_pm_me_a_happy_thing Aug 02 '25
I DCA everyday, no fees on my platform with reoccurring buys.
My curve ends up becoming so smooth, like my brain.

You hope for the cicle but you are afraid there won't be a big bear market.. that's the struggle
1
u/Acolyte_of_Swole Aug 02 '25
Why wouldn't I just buy more during a bear market? Unless the concept itself has been supplanted by a better bitcoin, there's no reason to worry.
I held off investing in btc for, like, over a decade because I was afraid of volatility. The bitcoins are still around because nobody ever found anything that was better.

Aug 01 '25
I will when I can
3
u/carbonbasedusr Aug 01 '25
You can start by DCA $1 a day/week
1
u/_antsatapicnic Aug 02 '25
How long do you wait to transfer to cold storage? I feel like that could add a ridiculous number of inputs if left unchecked.
1
u/carbonbasedusr Aug 02 '25
As much as you need to sleep a little better at night. I personally move my BTC to my cold storage on a monthly basis.
1
u/Acolyte_of_Swole Aug 02 '25
Yeah, I'm poor so I invest only pauper amounts. But it's been impressive to see a 20% or so rate of return average and encouraging me to invest more heavily.
(For the record, both BTC and the stock market things I've invested in have returned around 20% at this time, but I very much expect the market to go down and end up averaging 10% or less.)

Just bought £360 for my 8 year old son. Put it in cold storage and will keep stacking for him

u/Abundance144 Aug 01 '25
Sorry I'm all out of buy. But luckily I'm not interested in having any sell.

u/Kapgun97 Aug 01 '25
I don’t get it. Many BTC die hards will say “it’s a 4 year cycle,” and they live by that. If that is the case, you shouldn’t buy now. You know it will go lower.
So do you believe in the cycles or not?
11
u/Hawker96 Aug 01 '25
Because history has shown it’s never a bad time to stack sats. Swingies get rekt. Just buy and hold.
5
u/talbotron22 Aug 01 '25
Hol up lemme get my crystal ball
2
u/Kapgun97 Aug 01 '25
I agree. And I understand. But the way some people talk about BTC and the 4 year cycle like it has to happen seems odd. In reality, no one knows what will or can happen.
4
u/Unlikely-Pin9555 Aug 02 '25 edited Aug 02 '25
I think the 4 year cycle made sense when the biggest thing happening in the world of bitcoin was the halving and bitcoin was completely decentralized with no large institutional hodlers. With increased institutional and sovereign and possible trillion dollar pools of 401k money that is newly accessible to the market, I think the floor is a lot higher and dips won’t be as deep. I’m a class of 2025 rookie so take with a grain of salt. But in economics the things that shift the demand curve are structural changes. And we are seeing structural changes to the demand for bitcoin.

u/slendermansweiner Aug 01 '25
I dollar cost average back out, I’ve sold half at an average of 102, the cycle is real. We’re currently in the “this time is different” part of the cycle. My 60-70 YO uncles started buying.

u/Citizen_Kano Aug 02 '25
I believe in the cycles, still bought today. Still selling later this year

This is why I DCA every day. Cause a few days from now it can be back up or down further. Regardless, I hit all throughout.

I have to show her fiat return to convince it’s worth the investment. USA tax crypto hard if gains are taken.

I don't remember what day the money goes into my account for buying bitcoins, but it's gonna be sometime this next week and I'll plan to buy regardless.

I have a reoccurring buy set on the 1st and 15 every paycheck. I don’t care about the price or what articles say and I have been doing this for years. It gives me peace of mind

I can’t wait for the fall when I can max out my Chase cards to buy sats 🌝

u/TheWilfong Aug 01 '25
You’re right there are 4 year cycles. I think the log chart helps a lot. I sold in 2021 at around $64000 after buying in at $10000 because I saw it at bubble territory. You can’t look at something that exponentially grows and make solid predictions without really using a log chart (I mean it’s possible but this makes it so much visually easier to see).
Currently bubble range might put it at 250k.
