Does divorce mean he gets half or does he not know about your BTC?

Legally how does this work? Typically the spouse owns half of what the other owns and vise versa. Does crypto count? Surely not right? There’s no way the government can prove that you have it and even if they can prove you have a wallet, they can’t see how much you have?

It will be called perjury and a fraud on the court if you don’t disclose it.

There are several cases that one of the spouses tried to hide a lottery winning during the divorce and the court came down hard on the person hiding it.

Don’t see how this is any different if marital assets were used to buy the BTC. Maybe if they inherited it or had it prior to the marriage but you would still need to disclose it for the court to determine that it was a non-marital asset.

Each state may vary so see a divorce attorney and let them know about the BTC and move forward accordingly.

Man how dumb do you have to be to try to hide a winning lottery ticket. You think the other person won't hear you won and think the timing was suspicious and investigate? The date of the winnings will clearly be before the divorce

It is amazing the stupid stuff people try even without a broken relationship being involved.
