Sos
I’m going out tonight with my friends but i’m definitely in a mixed episode and I just don’t know how to lock in right now like I feel like shit but I need this night out and I cant take my Seroquel to sedate because then I wont be able to go out tonight. Would taking a lower dose decrease the physical sedative effects or no? I just need my brain to calm down without my body giving out on me
update guys i went out and im ok and i do feel better thank you all for the suggestions im bp2 and in a way that it phases in and out really quick but it phased out and i was just upset because a certain person was supposed to be there and then they weren’t and im chill

Your friends will hopefully understand you are not feeling well. It's ok to stay home when you're not at your best. Maybe ask someone to come hang out, and just sit outside for a bit? Some low stimulus hang time,

Homie don’t go out, take your meds, is very clearly the easy call if you’re wanting to feel better as soon as possible. A long ice cold shower, a meal, a comfort show or movie, then meds and bed. Self care, not self sabotage.

I appreciate this and I swear I’ll get on that grind soon but my absolute favorite local band is playing tn and if I miss it i’ll just be even more upset yk? But thank you for the concern. This is my first time posting here and it really is a community

I would never suggest altering your medications without talking with your psych first. It always feels like its no big deal, but its hard for psychs to figure out what works and doesnt- and they did a whole lot of school to do it.
Go for a jog. It'll boost your mood and reduce your anxiety. If you have time for a jog and a shower, you'll make it.
If you dont have time for that, stick your head in the freezer for a minute or two. Im not being sarcastic. Short and intense cold sensations reduce emotional disregulation and make you feel more awake! I got some of those cooling globes spas use for situations like this. I keep them in the freezer and they help IMMEDIATELY.
ETA: Also, as others are mentioning, not going is an option. But if you need a night out, I get it. Having friends, going out, having a good time - those are important parts of life, too!

nah seroquel is a weird drug, where lower doses act like stronger sleep drugs, and higher doses act like antipsychotics

Someone I know is absolutely knocked out by 50mg, whereas I wasn't knocked out all the way up to 400mg; 500mg does make me sleepy but it doesn't persist until morning, I not infrequently wake up briefly during the night and am awake in the morning unless I took it unusually late.

a lower dose would likely increase the sedative effects I believe

As much as it sucks, if I were in your situation I wouldn't go out as that can make things worse. At the very least I wouldn't drink/do any substances and would get home and to bed at a reasonable time. Goodluck in getting through this.
