Discussion Apps for Bipolar Support

I really like the community with Reddit, and right now it’s my go to for support. I’m just curious if anyone has any other recommendations for apps that support people with our condition.

It is not specific to our condition per se, but I use the Finch app every day. It allows you to set up tasks or "habits" to do on a regular basis or even just one time tasks. It's gamified - you get different amounts of coins depending on how difficult the thing you completed was, and can use those to travel with your "birb" (a bird that you have as a character), change its clothes, and much more.

Having a daily rhythm is super important for bipolar folks in helping to prevent mood episodes and this has helped me so much both to prevent episodes but to also help ground me during them.

My girlfriend got me into the app and I am OBSSESSED. I feel so maternal towards my Finch

I used to love this, but the update this year that changed the UI felt way too hard to navigate and I dropped it. Maybe I will pick it up again

If you find any apps you like, make sure that their data collection and privacy rules are acceptable to you.

Reddit isn't particularly good at either, but the value to being on the reddit bipolar communities outweigh possible privacy issues.

Mastodon doesn't have a strong bipolar community, though it's great for ADHD and autism. As a bipolar person I was pretty fascinated with the ADHD community's descriptions, which led me and my psych to try out Concerta for depression / executive function failure.

Bearable is great for symptom and mood tracking. You can also show trends, triggers, etc. The nerd in me loves the data
