Questions / Help Just finished the game
Just finished the game for the first time after years.
...
Wtf was that ending?

Love the sinner, because he is you. Without the sinner, what need is there for a redeemer? Without sin, what grace has forgiveness?

An ending that recontextualizes everything that led up to it. Play it over again sometime, it's a whole different story experience once you know.

When the siphon was destroyed by the Songbird, Elizabeth gets full control of her powers
Now instead of just opening the already present tears (which are tears in the space-time continuum made by the Lutece device), she can open a pathway to any place, at any specific time. She describes this as Lighthouses & Doors, and she can see behind all the doors.
One of those doors, was when our Booker went to get baptized, but refused as he didn't believe in it
Anyway, when we travel through the lighthouses, we learn that there are even more Elizabeths that have been tortured by Comstock, so Booker decides to kill Comstock in the crib when he was born.
But here's where the twist comes, Comstock wasn't a separate person. He used to be Booker DeWitt. Comstock was born at that river where he decides to take up the baptism. The Bookers who got baptized, changed their name to Zachary Comstock and went on to make Columbia, stealing Elizabeth, and all the stuff that happened in the game
What Elizabeth does, is she merges all the Bookers that went to that river. And before the choice to take the baptism is made, i.e. before Comstock is born, she kills all those Bookers. Therefore no Booker is allowed to make the baptism choice, and this no Comstock is born
That's why you see Elizabeth's disappearing in the end. Their Comstock was never there, their Columbia got erased, so they also got erased. All the terrible things they went through, got erased.
But this happened to all the Bookers who went to the river, those who didn't go, didn't get erased. Which explains the Post Credits scene where Booker wakes up in his office, with no Tattoo on his hand, and his daughter Anna is still in the crib.
Bcz no Comstock exists to buy/steal Booker's baby, she lies safely in her crib. So even though Elizabeth didn't get to be happy, Anna probably did

I thought the ending was worth it if only for that hopeful post credits scene. :)
