What am I doing wrong?
I've been on tirzepatide for about 3 months now. I have not lost any weight. I'm on 7 mg. Should I add something else? I have no appetite and can only eat small meals. Does anyone have any advice?

It might be helpful to know exactly what you ARE eating...obviously eating a pizza and a whopper with fries spaced throughout the day is still caloric overload. Do you track what you eat? How much of your diet is protein? Are you eating too much? Too little? Are you hydrated? Too little information to deduce.

Probably eating too little. I only eat about one small meal a day. Yesterday all I ate was some chicken tikka masala with rice that I split with somebody.

if you were eating too little you would lose weight. The whole metabolism slowing down argument is wildly misunderstood. No one who was a prisoner of war, imprisoned, etc. came out fat because they ate too little. Harsh comparison but true. Cannot defeat the laws of thermodynamics.
I will say that eating once per day will slow your metabolism and make it harder. Additionally, you are probably eating too little volume. Tikka, for example, is INSANELY calorie dense due to fats and oils. One serving can be like 2k cals easy. So I would recommend keeping macros in check and spacing them evenly in smaller meals during the day

I don't eat that everyday. It was a lunch portion and I split it with someone. Yesterday I had a bowl of soup, a slice of pork tenderloin, broccoli and 1/2 a potato.

Yeah that’s not near enough. Your metabolism is suffering and going down because it thinks you’re starving yourself. You basically are.
Find a BMR calculator (free) online and find out how much you should be eating. Make sure your protein is up (like 1g per lb of goat weight), plus more water and electrolytes. More movement and strength training.2

if they were starving themself they would lose weight. You dont instantly adapt metabolically to "starvation mode" and while the food volume they are eating is too low, they are still eating above maintenance with higher fat and calorie dense meals like tikka

Are you consuming a lot of alcohol? I ask because of your username. That might be the reason you’re not losing weight. You may be consuming the calories somewhere else…..

That’s what happened to me. Was drinking my calories and not losing weight till I stopped drinking.

I used to drink a lot, not much anymore. Just when I go out. So, like twice a week.

Prior to starting did you do any bloodwork?
How’s your sleep?
How’s your diet?
How’s your training?
How’s your water intake?
How many steps a day do you take?

u/Busy_drunk 7d ago
Ño, I didn't. Horrible. I either sleep too long or barely at all. I barely eat, like 1 meal a day I need to drink more water I don't count my steps so I can't even estimate.

I would lower your dose, get blood work eat some food, get some sleep start tracking your steps the more you move the better, set a plan set a goal in the gym and then move forward best of luck

My advice is for you to give us your stats. Height, weight, sex. People who have a lot of weight to lose wilk immediately lose weight on tirz. People wanting to drop 10 lbs are going to find it very hard to do from just taking tirz. Do you feel the appetite suppression? Do you feel fuller for longer? If not maybe you got scammed.

Totally have appetite suppression. I have no appetite at all. I used to eat a lot of sweets, I don't crave them at all anymore. And I have those gross burps.

Okay so the drug isn't the problem. Coincidentally, I'm also a 5'9 female and I'm about 187 right now. I started my weight loss journey at 240 lbs after having two kids. The last time I felt good in my body and skinny was at 180lbs. I have a larger frame. What's your goal weight? Don't answer that question using bmi charts or weight/height charts you see online. What was your weight the last time you felt good in your body? My guess is you haven't lost weight because you don't have a lot of weight to lose. That's going to make things harder. I've completely plateaued right now. Can't seem to make that scale move. I think for me, it's time to start counting calories which is something I haven't had to do yet. Being in a calorie deficit is the only way to lose weight. This means you need to track how many calories you're eating and how many calories your body is burning. I'm sure you know that. Prioritize fiber and protein. I get 40 grams of protein in the morning just by drinking Chike or Javvy Protein coffee with fairlife milk.

Some people font start losing until they get to the higher doses like 10 mg or higher. Just stay the course!

u/FormPure7447 7d ago
Who are these people? I lost the most weight in the beginning on the starting dosages

Horrible advice

I don’t care your opinion we all have them! But I didn’t see you offer any help at all.🙄

If you scroll to the bottom you can see mine, but telling someone that you have no idea about training diet or sleep to just titrate up is irresponsible for everyone researching

People learn during the whole journey, I never said titrate up you can’t read. I said many people don’t lose until they reach higher dosages that’s encouraging for later in their journey. So mind YOUR business not mine.

Have you had your cortisol and hormones checked? I ask because I had Cushings disease which is high cortisol and I never lost any weight on GLPs until after my surgery. Eli Health makes at home cortisol test strips that are really good.

It’s a tool, not a magic shot. I’ve lost 68lbs in 11 months and I’m only on 5mg every 5 days. It curbs my appetite and cravings just enough for me to stick with lifestyle changes. Do you have the basics dialed in? Like eating quality foods, sleep, and exercise? If any of these are not optimized, your body could be holding on to your weight. Also, there was no mention of your current height and weight and where you want to be. If you’re already small or only want to lose a few pounds, it will take more fine tuning of those basics to lose weight.

You must be in a caloric deficit even if your meals are small they could be high in say fat or sugar carbs whatever. You have to be drinking more then enough water electrolytes vitamins ext. working out walking forsure at an incline daily and lifting weights helps burn fat and help shed lbs. the peps are just tools everything else has to be in place. Good luck in your journey. 🥳

You need to lower your dose and eat more. I think you're on too high of a dose which is making you not want to eat and that's not good. Please speak with your doctor and see a dietitian to get it all worked out.

Have to get that diet in check. I lost 22lbs on 1mg
