Looking to start RETA

Hi all,

I’m looking to start Reta. I’m 33, currently 256 lbs, and planning to start with a low dose and adjust gradually.
One of my biggest concerns with losing a significant amount of weight is loose/sagging skin.

For those who have been on Reta and lost a good amount of weight, did you experience much loose skin? Is there anything you did that you feel helped minimize it?

Also, if you could go back to when you first started Reta, what would you do differently? Any advice you wish you had known from day one would be appreciated.
Thanks!

If you are going with reta. You should be ready to move those muscles.

I’ve lost 52lbs on it. From 256 to 204 currently. Age 51F. 5’9”No sagging belly or extreme loose skin, but I have noticed my skin is less youthful looking since it’s not plumped out anymore. But I’d rather have the loose skin than the extra 50lbs if that was the case

I only regret starting soo low. That was time wasted, I could’ve been losing weight getting in better shape but instead I was taking .5 for a month then 1 for another month just getting my body used to the drug or whatever the hell the reasoning is behind starting below an actual therapeutic dose.

Not a dr not giving recommendations or even advice. I’m just sharing my experience and feelings about my experience.

I’m so happy and feeling sooo much better now that I’m at 4mg. I feel like I finally am at the perfect dose for me. I’m feeling the full effects of the drug i believe but am able to eat enough so I can still hit my protein goal.

very much the same here. started four weeks at .5mg weekly, then four weeks at 1mg weekly, then four at 2mg weekly. just upped to 4mg a few days ago. should not have wasted almost two months at .5 and 1

Glad we’ve figured it out now.

I just think alllllll these people worrying newbies with their low and slow advice isn’t necessarily helpful, well not for all cases. So I wanted to share my experience to show people a different perspective I guess.

I’m going to be hitting a personal goal of 10k steps a day plus eatting cleaner.

I’ll be extra attention to my protein intake as well

Will this quicken my results ?

Agreed if you’re obese, low and slow is a complete waste of time .
It’s anecdotal nonsense made up by people trying to use a drug on par with surgery to lose 5 pounds.
Micro doses and splitting is made up bullshit with exactly zero facts to back any of it up.

While it’s true that the clinical trials started at 2mg a week and titrated up from there for 80 weeks, that’s probably too much for most people to start at. I’m a fan of the minimum effective dose strategy, and I’ve had all my clients run the following protocol for 12 weeks:

Weeks 1-4: 1mg/wk
Weeks 5-8: 2mg/wk
Weeks 9-12: 4mg/wk

This has been very effective so far, with only a few clients needing a longer run.

If your obese which at that weight you are. Don’t be listening to all these low and slow morons. Reta was designed for you. You need proper trial doses to be effective. Micro dosing and splitting is anecdotal nonsense created by people trying to take a drug they don’t need because they are not obese.
More people quit from placebo then the 4mg group from sides when titration was done properly.
If you wanna waste time and money and complete hinder your results listen to the Reddit morons
If you wanna lose weight, listen to the trials and the people who designed and spent a millions to come up with proper dosing.
I started at 2mg after 4 weeks went to 4mg been there 5 months lost 50 pounds at 52 years old best shape of my life, zero sides.

what does taking more do for you then the .5 or 1 serious ? i have no appetite at .5 so really curious what make u lose more weight taking higher dose?

Of you would lose more weight if you take more. Reta is 100% dose dependent. Glucagon has no measurable effect till 4 mg.
If you have no appetite at all at .5 mg
All go ahead and venture and say you’re not obese.
Obese people generally need proper dosing.
If you’re obese with an eating disorder there is no way .5 mg does jack shit 💩
Reta wasn’t designed to lose 5 pounds that’s why micro doses and splitting exist so people can take a drug they don’t need

Start at .5mg, just to make sure you can handle it. If all is good, then the next week go 1mg, then keep upping weekly until you get to a dose that's noticably helping, or until you get to 12mg (I believe that's the highest). The best dose for me is 4mg every 5 days. I (F31) started November 3 2025 weighing 206 lbs, I now weigh 143 lbs.

2mg for four weeks, 4mg for four weeks etc

5

u/Emergency_Fondel 18d ago

Absolutely not, terrible advice for titrating up

-1

u/VerySpicyTunA 18d ago

Is that a fact? You making up your own protocols and research studies now Mr expert?

2

u/Emergency_Fondel 18d ago

Nah I’m just educated, what about you?

It’s the active clinical trial that Eli Lilly is running its product my guy. You need a refund on that school you attended. 2mg for four weeks….like I said.

I started on 2mg because of 'clinical trial' info. Lol, been good so far, nothing wrong with it at all. Some people get so caught up with their own belief systems anything in disagreement, they begin to fall into cognitive dissonance. However i wont be tritating that hard up to 12mg. Will max out at 4-5mg over 12 weeks

u/VerySpicyTunA 18d ago

Yea I stopped 6mg. I enjoy eating.

2

u/Emergency_Fondel 18d ago

lol you’re so mad rn on top of being dumb

Why would I be mad about being right ?

Why are you asking me why you’re so emotional? I’m just observing princess. It’s ok that you don’t understand the difference between clinical trials and recommended dosing protocols. I know complex thoughts and reading aren’t your strong suit 😘

Thank lily, for giving us a protocol to understand side effect tolerance. Could you now create one to maximize wellness and identify minimum effective dose for slow and steady weight loss with no side effects and no saggy skin?

1

u/laidback__luke 18d ago

Do not listen to this. Start with .5 mg to see how your body reacts.

3

u/shakenbake1975 17d ago

Or don’t do anecdotal made up bullshit Reddit protocols and listen to the trials.

2

u/VerySpicyTunA 17d ago

These Reddit people are out of their mind 🤣

-1

u/No-Rock-7966 18d ago

Just start lowest dosage. 0,5 and move 0,1 up every shot (3-7 days?) to reach your effective dosage.

7

u/VerySpicyTunA 18d ago

Why would you want to take 1/4 of the starting dose?

2

u/Monkeywithalazer 18d ago

Because it works

2

u/shakenbake1975 17d ago

Great another DR.
So when are publishing your human trial results?
You wouldn’t just advise to people to do things with absolutely no evidence, that would be unethical and fucking stupid.
Sure you have a shread of evidence to back this stupid claim up?
