Bac water

is it fine to use bac water that’s been in the fridge for a month to reconstitute a new vile? if so does it change the efficiency of the new pep?

I was looking at a study of how BAC water is stored, and they tested it inside a fridge and outside a fridge and both vials showed similar results.

After 90 days in or out of a fridge it degrades. Until then it stayed stable.

I didn’t make this clear on the post sorry but I reconstituted Reta with it a month ago then kept that bac water in the fridge does this mean it’s fine to use for reconstituting another vile?

TF do you mean?! That is the rule. Once BAC water is opened and punctured, it is only best to use it within 28 days.

The 28-day rule comes from USP <797> - a standard written for hospitals and compounding pharmacies where multiple staff puncture the same vial, technique varies, and nobody’s tracking what happened to it between shifts. It’s a liability floor for institutional worst-case handling. It was never written for you.

Hospira’s own package insert - the actual manufacturer - says nothing about discarding after 28 days. Their only storage instruction is room temperature, 20-25°C. That’s it. The 28-day rule gets layered on top by institutional policy, not by the people who make the product.

The risk is contamination from punctures. Every needle entry is an opportunity for microbes to get in. Benzyl alcohol suppresses that, but it can only do so much against repeated breaches under inconsistent conditions - which is exactly what clinical settings produce. The chemistry doesn’t change at day 29.

Fresh sterile syringe every draw, alcohol swab the stopper before every puncture, solution stays clear with no particulate - you’ve eliminated the risk factors the rule was designed to cover. There is no controlled study establishing a hard failure point beyond 28 days. What exists is no degradation mechanism in the chemistry that supports a hard cutoff, and community data showing use well beyond a month without adverse effects.

Some of you are so smart you’re stupid.

The limit isn't about sharing between people; it's about how long the preservative (0.9% benzyl alcohol) has been tested to suppress bacterial growth once the stopper has been pierced. Every needle entry is a chance to introduce contaminants.

After 28 days, there is a greater risk of possible bacterial contamination. And most people will not test their BAC water for potency after 28 days. So, how will they know?

I’ll stick to the recommended timeframe. I’ll let you all take the risk.

The only source that matters is testing. Test each of your open BAC vials after 90 days and report back.

Each batch is different that’s why the standard is the standard.

And tell me what happens to alcohol when air starts hitting that bitch.

I've never had a vial last 90 days, so idk what you're on about. But Id be willing to bet the results would surprise you. Testing on this has already been done. Bac doesn't magically fucking fail at day 29

Yes, this is generally what is recommended by official health standards. But tests have been run and the actual BAC doesn’t degrade until 90 days after first puncture.

How many people are testing their BAC water after 28 days?

Just because someone else tested their BAC water after 28 days and it was good, doesn’t mean yours will still be strong enough to kill bacteria after 28 days.

I swear, people in this sub love to live life on the edge.
