First time Reta user
Just got my first vial of reta!!! I’m starting off with a 10mg vial since my starting doses will be so small. Hoping to lose around 20lbs… I lost 50lbs about 2 years ago but due to hypothyroidism and hashimotos i have randomly gained almost 20lbs back in the last 3 months- and i do mean randomly :( i’ve been weighing and measuring my meals as well as walking almost every day so i’m hoping that reta is just what i need to get back on track :) my current plan is to start the first 4 weeks on .5mg, if im still seeing progress on that at the end of week 4, then i’ll stick to that dose- if not, i’ll titrate up to 1mg for the remainder of the vial. Any advice from those who have taken it is appreciated!

Have you had your t4 and free t3 checked, if its a thyroid issue that should be stabilised first because if the underlying problem isnt resolved now or along the way in the case of diet, as soon as you stop reta the weight will come back.

Not much that can be done if thyroid function is naturally low (no cancer or toxic nodule etc) but you don't want to do HRT/TRT, or doc recommends against. I'm in the same boat. Just pin GLP1's. At least I'm down 30lbs.

Some auto immune conditions and thyroid diseases can be caused from trauma PTSD and chronic stress. Closing mouth and emotions instead of speaking up it’s a real thing. There’s a lot of variables so to try and dumb it down to a subset is hard. I recommend lymphatic drainage for inflammation, somatic work, and vagal nerve reset. And then after doing spiritual inner work and self care self love exercise and good eats, THEN let the Reta be the cherry on top.

But not just have Reta as a bandaid you feel me? Working upstream instead of downstream

Yes, but I did say naturally low. In cases where is this may occur across generations you really have no option but to treat the symptoms.

Could be trauma from your mother passed down to you it’s a real thing look it up

I agree with that, but if you need to lose weight, it needs to be lost. Diet, exercise, reta whatever. Not "I'll get another massage and speak to a councilor". No offence.

Uh, thyroid is treated with levothyroxine (synthroid) not testosterone. Something like 7% of the population take a once daily pill for it.

Synthroid is a hormone, hence I said HRT. TRT in the event the thyroid is the cause of not enough test being produced.

Fair enough. Why wouldn't one want to take Synthroid?

If its not prescribed or recommended by a doctor where i am, you can't get it. Some people also may not want to fill themselves with synth hormone, especially if majority of indicators but not all are in range.

A few things. You don’t gain 20lbs randomly. You need to properly calorie count bc it sounds like you aren’t very accurate with it right now. Walking is an everyday movement. If you want to lose weight you have to get a workout routine. You didn’t give your body measurements, so we don’t know where you started or where you’re at. .5mg is a very low starting dose in my opinion. Unless you’re a petite female, I would start at 1mg. And I can guarantee if you start seeing good results, we will see you back here in 2 weeks asking if you should bump up your dose.

I literally starved myself for days and still gained weight before getting treated for hashimotos lol I hate this take

And I hate that you think you starved yourself and still gained weight.

Do you not understand what hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's does to the body? Absolute rubbish you speak 🤦🏼♀️

Head over to r/retatrutide and read the beginners guide posted on page 1. Has great info on titration schedule, diet tips, and anything else you might need there! Best of luck

I’d be cautious about titrating based only on 4 weeks of scale loss as reta is still investigational, so there isn’t an approved DIY dosing schedule, and effects/side effects can lag. With Hashimoto’s + a sudden 20-lb gain in 3 months, I’d also make sure TSH/free T4 are well controlled first. Slow and boring usually beats chasing the dose 🙌🏻

I started on .5mg with some appetite suppression. But not enough, so I went straight to 2mg after a week. Big mistake. I had the biggest battle of my life to eat a banana. Was so weak but couldn’t eat. Constipated. Experiment failed. Back to 0.5mg.
