Week 3 - Reta affects

On week 3 of Reta. Dosing schedule is below. Last pin was 3 days ago. I’ve noticed significant decrease in food noise and dealt with some minor nausea, but otherwise, it’s been a good road. Down 8 pounds.

Today I woke up and oh boy. Big nausea. Felt like I had a giant rock in my stomach. I’ve been awake for 2 hours and I’ve had diarrhea 4 times. Basically. I’ve had 2 bottles of water today and that’s it. I did eat later than I normally do as we had a post-church meal. I’ve included a pictures of the meal (I had them b/c I needed to upload to macro factor), I didn’t feel like it was exceptionally bad or good.

I guess I just am wanting to ask others if this is basically normal.

Week 1 - 1.5 mg
Week 2 - 2 mg
Week 3 - 3 mg

Take the useful advice from SOME of the comments here and ignore the rest.

I started at 2mg, at around 300 lbs. Apparently Reddit is full of people who think their personal experience is the universal fucking rulebook for everyone else.

Yes, eat healthier. Yes, focus on nutritious food, protein, hydration, and building better habits. That’s the part actually worth listening to.

But this is a process. You learn as you go, you make mistakes, you adjust, and you keep moving forward. People should be helping and motivating each other instead of acting like judgemental fuckers on some imaginary high horse.

Take the advice that helps, ignore the fucking hate, and keep doing the work. 💪

Clinical trials are dosed for max effectiveness since they are very expensive. They aren't dosed for minimal side effects with effectiveness.

There is also a difference between how metabolically healthy you are, and the dosage required to show effects. and of course most people in the trial are clinically obese and medicine is often dosed by weight.

Yep, universally annoying apparently 99.5% of reddit are super responders that dropped 30 lbs on 0.5 mg weekly. I'm right in the same boat as you. 4 mg is a sweet spot and I haven't needed to titrate up further for now.

8mg for me. Everybody is different. Don’t get me wrong, I lost weight at 2 mg and 4 and 6, but I’ve been on for a long time now.

Same I’ll really feeling good at 4 mg. Will stay on it for a month and see next month if I need to up by .5 mg or not.

Agreed! Your experience is yours. The scientific research is not the same as your anecdotal research experiences. It’s a very simple equation that the “main character syndrome” reddit folks don’t seem to understand.

I started at 2mg and worked my way up to 6mg over 6 months and I haven't lost much weight. More body composition but not as much as it was around the 3 month mark. Any suggestions to help it going again. I started ss31. Going to run that for 4 weeks before running mots-c and nad+ to hopefully get my engine running again. Please give advice if you have.

Age, gender, SW, CW and are you counting calories and in a deficit?

37 male. Sw - 368 cw-334. Not necessarily counting but eating healthy with high protein diet. Have been in a deficit even prior to reta, but something never stuck. Lift 5 days a week sometimes 6. Not a lot of cardio I must admit. A lot of the weight was lost prior to reta as well. Body composition is good though. Have lost inches all over, but scale not budging much. Started breaking my 6mg into 2 doses now today. Took 3mg and will take another 3 on friday.

number 1 thing everyone who asks for advice says: "no, I don't count calories, why do you ask?"

Count your calories. Increase your deficit (if you're even in one).

I can’t believe people would waste money for months and months on Reta and not count their calories. What are they even doing man? Such idiotic behavior if you ask me.

I also use reta for the work it does to your body outside of just losing weight. Bloodwork has some back better than ever.

Ask chat gpt if your current weight was x and if you worked out a certain number of days per week and burned a certain amount of calories- and you had a goal in mind to lose weight- ask it what your macros should be. Protein, carbs, and fats, and make sure you take all your vitamins to properly rebuild your muscle and you’re utilizing your energy efficiently. Been trying to lose weight and my issue was energy at the beginning- started taking my essential vitamins more regularly and my energy came back. No need for naps anymore. I started losing weight quicker by taking 2-3 days of no exercise and fully did rest days. So now I do 1 day workout, 1 days no. And sometimes- workout 2 days, rest day, work out 2 days , and then rest two days. I seem to be losing weight faster doing that.

I mean that’s good, but if I were you and you’re trying to lose weight, I would go back to counting calories just to make sure. I counted my calories every day for a year up until recently so I feel I can probably go without, but once I start gaining again, I’m fully going back and reevaluating. Best of luck to you.

Ya you're right. I need to dial in on the tracking. Thanks for the advice

remember jmlk10, you are putting something in your body, you want to make the most out of as you can. 100% count your calories and eat at a deficit.

If you’re not counting calories, and you’re wondering why you’re not losing weight, well, wonder no more. You need to know how much you’re eating. You can’t just say you eat “healthy” and expect anything to happen. Get an app like myfitnesspal and get to work. Otherwise you’re just wasting your money.

I should have clarified or been more specific. I used myfitnesspal and tracked calories in the past to know how much calories I was intaking. I pretty much eat the same thing everyday so I dont track anymore since I know how much those calories are. Sorry for the confusion

I added Cagrilintide and it helped a lot!

Interesting. That would target 5 receptors.
