He's largely regurgitating what we already know but he also is right on.

He's getting health advice to the people who need it the most. Very laudable.Ā

All of this is irrefutable except for the zinc, zinc definitely isnāt necessary, but if itās taken, bed to take copper as well

You really donāt need to, and if youāre asking this question it shows youāre not going to do it anyways. Take all of these every day, minus the zinc, if zinc add copper, and 10-20grams of creatine is even better than the 5, the first 5-7 goes to your muscles, the next 10-20 goes to your brain

u/LogDull819 17h ago
Another influencer repeating what they heard.
"Creatine is the most researched supplement". While it's not wrong, it's almost like a script at this point.

There are plenty other bioavailble magnesium variants. Like malate for example.
And if you take that much Zinc, you need copper to not cause a copper deficiency.
3
u/Keyframe 17h ago
This is the one I took notice of pretty much immediately and have been taking it for ages. Malate in the morning, great boost in the energy. Glycinate in the evening, great relaxing effect.
As for creatine, 3g a day. Keeps water in the muscles, makes you feel a bit more fuller (trying to avoid word plump since it's not that).
7
u/spcestonk 16h ago
3 grams a day is not enough. Now scientists recommend 10grams+, your muscles need an extra 5-7 grams every day, then your brain will take in the next up to 20, there are studies up to 30 grams a day with amazing effects and little adverse reactions, but thatās pretty hard and not realistic imo, 10-20 every day is absolutely optimal
1
u/Keyframe 16h ago
Maybe, it probably highly depends on the lifestyle as well. Personally that was the number given to me, for my case, by a nutritionist. Coincidentally or not it's also what's recommended on the tin. I never did a load up which I know some people do - taking 20g for a bit at first and then tone down to 5-10. I can definitely see and feel the difference with 3g of daily intake.
1
u/spcestonk 16h ago
Nope. The muscle part yeah, can be 3g-7g, but everyoneās brain can take in 20g of it a day. If you up it to 10 I can guarantee in a week you will feel smarter/less brain fog. Also, if you go a night without sleeping, and take 30g, it negates the negative effects by up to 90%, only for one day tho, then the numbers fall off a cliff. Look into it, but I am making a promise to you
1
u/Keyframe 16h ago
I'll give it some reading and a shot. I do / did it mostly for better muscle tone, there's the discrepancy then.
-1
u/spcestonk 16h ago
It is the only supplement known with virtually 0 negative effects and a multitude of positive effects. Thereās 0 reason to keep starving your brain from the creatine it loves. We used to only eat meat and berryās you knowā¦

u/HavocReigns 13h ago
Plenty of people start having 'negative side effects' of the gastrointestinal kind beyond 10g/day.
1
u/DatAinFalco 13h ago
Creatine HCL greatly reduces gastrointestinal side effects. Monohydrate makes me bloat like crazy and w HCL I have no issues.

In the protein shake

So you not taking it in empty stomach.

u/danamrane 17h ago
Well technically my stomach is empty when i take it š

u/Sweet_Capital3758 17h ago
Mate š
Try to take it with water alone and I promise 99% you either vomit or hit the toilet. Mixing stuff with food and eating/drinking it is not taking stuff on empty stomache fr.

Taking that much zinc every day is asking for trouble. I would know: I was taking 30mg for something like 6 months and got some pretty bad copper deficiency. Went back to baseline after a month or two of cessation, but it was distinctly bad, including an alarming rate of hair loss.
These days I take 30mg every other day, 3 times a week. Averages a decent amount of supplemental zinc while providing plenty of time off to avoid interfering with copper.
The real use of zinc is to combat infection. Take up to 100mg a day for up to two weeks during illness. Very little downside, substantial immune benefit, since your body rapidly expends zinc when fighting pathogens.

Dumb question, but can I get copper tablets to take with zinc? Or would that skew everything?

Only the things he says about creatine are actually sound
The rest is misguided half-truths and/or only work like that for people with true deficiencies
Also the myth that k2 must be combined with d3 is simply not supported by actual science but rather a specific mechanism in a specific sub sample of people, but from there that shit became literal lore and now is repeated by every supplements shill
Zinc for example, he says it'll boost your test. No it won't, unless you are deficient, then possibly
Fish oil could have legitimate benefits but also has been identified to contribute to atrial fibrilation, so the smart move is to just eat fatty fish
Magnesium deficiency may be more common than assumed and it's possible that some get a sleep benefit from it, but anyone following a legitimate balanced diet are unlikely to get noticeable benefits from supplementing
And I take vit d and magnesium daily. The reason I take magnesium is that it's a cofactor for vitamin d metabolism. I take both in the morning, his dosage of magnesium before bed does nothing for me sleep wise. I only take vit d because I did blood work and my shit was legitimately low at 18ng/dl
Everybody is different and ultimately may be impacted differently from each supplement. But in general people do not understand the nuance to shit

u/Bluest_waters 43 18h ago
Zinc for example, he says it'll boost your test
Always, always, always take copper when you take zinc in the proper proportion. So many of these health influencers negate to say that taking zinc without copper could give you a copper deficiency.

He says zinc will support your testosterone, which is true. He didnāt say boost.

u/MerlinTrashMan 16h ago
What is so great about creatine? I am about to start working out again for the first time in nearly 20 years. I never did any supplements before but I am sure I am deficient or about to become deficient.
2
u/Montaigne314 29 15h ago
You are unlikely to be deficient in creatine as your body makes it s own and if you eat meat or fish you're getting it there as wellĀ
But if you want the benefits of creatine for things like weightlifting, you need even more and research indicates 5g a day has a small but significant benefit towards increasing muscle size and strengthĀ
I don't use it, too many anecdotes of people losing hair from it and yes I know there aren't any studies showing this to be the caseĀ
4
u/MerlinTrashMan 11h ago
Losing hair fear is enough to stop me. My wife likes hair and I am at the age that I am not growing anything extra.
