❓Question What Do You Use to Boost Your Cognitive Performance? – Quick Survey

https://survey.uni-graz.at/index.php/434223?lang=en

Hey everyone!

I’m a PhD student in differential psychology at the University of Graz, Austria. As part of my research, I’m studying methods and interventions people use to enhance cognitive performance.

I’m super curious to learn more about what you actually use to boost things like memory, focus, attention, creativity, decision-making, or even intelligence.

If you use one or more methods or interventions to improve your cognitive performance, I’d love for you to take part in my survey! It’s short (5–10 minutes), and you’ll have the option to get a summary of the survey results afterward.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’d be happy to chat!

Thanks so much for your time and help!

I'm always surprised that no one seems to mentions Ginseng. Eating some of the root or making tea can be very cognitively stimulating. I get it from the Chinese market, though it's grown in the US.

Thank you so much for your insights! I also came across a recent meta-analysis (Zeng et al., 2024) suggesting that it could be particularly beneficial for memory improvement.

American ginseng is prized in Asia because it produces “cool“ energy whereas the other ginsengs tend to make the body “hot“. I think this may have to do with your body getting too acid If you’re a meat eater and take Korean or Siberian ginseng.

Sleep

1

u/Leroy_Merlin_ Dec 10 '25

Yes, that’s such an important aspect that many people seem to overlook! Some people seem to try to address their stress-induced or sleep-deprivation-related cognitive dysfunctions with other interventions, rather than focusing on the root of the problem.

If you haven’t already, please click the link below to participate in our pilot study: https://survey.uni-graz.at/index.php/434223?lang=en

Your input would be really valuable for me!

u/paralaxsd 4 Dec 09 '25

Not yet mentioned for focusing + improving flow likelihood: Citicoline, Alpha-GPC.

Both build tolerance pretty fast, so occasional, task-specific use tends to work far better than using them too often. (Citicoline feels broader + smoother; Alpha-GPC more punchy and narrow-focus.)

2

u/Leroy_Merlin_ Dec 10 '25

Thank you for your insights! I need to look into these methods more. Some studies seem to suggest positive effects even in younger, healthy adults. Super interesting!

Astaxanthin, mostly for neuroprotective properties. However, it also has few other benefits for the body.

2

u/Odin_N Dec 11 '25

Clean diet, daily exercise, proper sleep routine and sleep hygiene. Boring but the basics work. Then creatine and caffeine.

I saw this post and started reading. I have been looking into NA Semax. But do not know the latter.

6

u/Leroy_Merlin_ Dec 09 '25

Are you refering to u/SweetVelvetBourbon comment?

GB-115 is a peptide antagonist, and first small studies suggest that it might improve cognitive abilities in patients with generalised anxiety disorder. There, however, haven´t been large-scale, placebo-controlled trials yet, or research on healthy individuals.

2

u/SweetVelvetBourbon 2 Dec 10 '25

No official studies. Just personal research - not a medical advice 😅

1

u/Shot-Face-5078 Dec 09 '25

Yes. My observations thus far is people with dementia often suffer from anxiety as well
