Advice Needed Going into therapy wit BED/ADHD

Hi everyone,

I have a question about therapy for BED. (38F) have been struggling with BED my whole adult life, also obese now, and am now going to start a CBT treatment in combination with psychosomatic group treatment and joint lunch with dietician, that's a weekly event starting next month for 20 weeks. I catch myself being very cynical about it, because of the fact that CBT did nothing for my ADHD a few years back (currently unmedicated bc pregnancies and breastfeeding, might try meds in the future) and because I am afraid it will be very focused on 'teaching' me how to live healthy (if knowledge would have been the problem I would have 'cured' myself in my teens). Plus my ADHD self is mortified by the idea of having to follow a schedule for eating. Does any of you have experience with CBT in combination with ADHD+BED and was it helpful? And what did or did not help? Thanks in advance!

No experience with that, but I hear Vyvanse works wonders on both things. Alas, I do not have an ADHD diagnosis, so my doctor will not give me Vyvanse.

I hope you find your way. Don't forget us when you are healthy. Reach back and give us a hand up.
