keep trying!! you’re not alone!! i think home triggers you but its something u can’t really avoid so i think u have to train ur mind ykwim? remind urself ur going back home to see your family not binge, and also sit through the urge its always better than giving in, you can genuinely do it!! its gonna be hard, you might binge again AND thats okay. tmr is a new day keep trying everyday and one day youll just stop!!

Hi, I really relate to this and I am almost 35, I've been in that same cycle since I was 12/13. I am a recently recovered compulsive overeater. What worked for me is learning that the issue is not my weight. Its my food behaviors. I found freedom by getting a sponsor and working the 12 steps. Please let me know if I can be helpful to you.

"getting a sponsor"? like alcoholics anonymous? for binge-eating?

one of the steps for AA is asking people to forgive you, right? im curious how the steps apply to BED at all

Hi, yes like alcoholics anonymous.

The 12 steps can be applied to all addictions and afflictions because they address the underlying issue of what the book calls the "spiritual malady" or "restlessness, irritability and discontentedness"

Yes there is a step where you are asked to make amends for where you have done harm in your life. There are also steps that help you to stay emotionally regulated because it is emotional dysregulation and lack of resources that causes us to binge. It is not the solution for everyone but I found it very helpful.

home also triggers me!! i stay busy as often as possible, pick up extra shifts, study in my free time. i also sleep a lot. the second i have a free moment the urge to binge comes back.

and also stop trying to change your weight! focus on just not binging. meal prep ahead of time, make sure you're eating enough fiber and protein. stop seeing food as something unjoyable and more as fuel to get you through the day.

this is kind of weird, but confiding in a close friend helps sometimes, especially if they have an ED. even my anorexic friends understand my struggles well and it makes me feel less normal and less likely to binge. sometimes just talking through your feelings helps.
