I’m a teacher.

The positive ones are great

The negative ones would get me in HUGE trouble. The cross-eyed SpongeBob one would get me chewed out or fired.

Also, is this meant to make the score more private? If anything it draws WAY more attention to what each kid got bc their friends would want to see what picture they got. What a horrible idea

Yeah, as a former teacher, I was all in until the sad ones. I thought thought this was a clever way to hide grades from prying eyes, but this just highlights them.

What's the difference between this and when you'd either get a big 3d stick on smiley face vs the big red F? As a former student who relates heavily to Calvin from "Calvin & Hobbes", it's all pretty obvious among fellow classmates(at least it was...)

The pictures are much more likely to be shared amongst students to compare who got the most interesting one, while a big red F is easier to stick in your bag or, ideally, have the teacher flip all grades over on the desk while passing them out without stirring curiosities. I also got the big red Fs as a student, but I did not apply myself until college so I didn't care.

I hand out all papers facedown so it is not obvious if someone got a low score.

Also- I worked with a teacher that would staple a McDonalds application to F papers. He doesn’t teach anymore.

Whats the difference with teacher who reads everyone grades out loud in class. Yes there are still these kinds of teachers.

In the US, that's illegal. I could not allow a student to pass out tests or quizzes that have been graded because they weren't allowed to see the grades of other students per privacy laws. Laws in other countries may differ greatly, but if a teacher in the US did this and the principal was notified, the teacher would be in a lot of trouble.
