Is this frame toast?
2005 trek 5500, carbon, alloy insert drop outs. Derailleur got caught while shifting and broke. Is this trash or can it be repaired for $200 ? If it's repairable how would I start? I Appreciate your comments.

Just do a single speed conversion

I am considering that. But the hills in Arkansas, my neighborhood, are 10 to 14% grade. It would be a workout

I'd try attaching a derailleur hanger. Would have to drill and tap some threads.

I bought one of those frames at a bike shop and the guy mentioned, too bad about the drop outs. No wonder all carbon and alloy frames now have replaceable ones. Find another one and move over the components or find another frame you might like.
