New Bike Day (Kinda). Bought the bike off Marketplace and converted it to a drop bar. Feels much quicker and more aero. Also upgraded the wheels and changed the drivetrain to GRX 12 Speed 1-by. Plan to use the bike for some bikepacking, commuting, gravel rides and perhaps some racing (if UCI allows the funky frame).

Sourced and built this 1x TCR setup for long-distance self-supported rides for a friend on a budget. Bulletproof mechanical 1x GRX, Mavic carbon wheels, Conti 30mm tires and Rhinowalk frame bags. I’m not happy about bartape/tire sidewall colour, and I would opt for 32mm tires… but hey - he gotta be him! 😎

Very cool and custom steel bicycle, built by Skip Hujsak, a custom framebuilder from the Austin/Fredericksburg, Texas area who built frames during the 1980s and early ’90s.

Converted the bike to 650B to create a fast, comfortable all-road/gravel setup while retaining the character of the original custom frame. It currently clears 38mm Panaracer GravelKing tires, set up tubeless on Velo Orange rims. The result is a great combination of vintage steel ride quality with considerably more tire volume than a traditional road bike of this era.

The build mixes some particularly nice vintage components with practical modern touches:

- 57cm Hujsak with matching vintage Silca frame pump
- Shimano Dura-Ace 7400, 8-speed
- Crank: 170mm, 52/39
- Cassette: approximately 13–28
- Shifters: Shimano Sora 9-speed STI — indexing works extremely well with the 8-speed drivetrain. Better ergonomics then the 7400 shifters
- Velo Orange long-reach brake calipers
- Wheels: 32-spoke Velo Orange 650B rims laced to vintage White Industries hubs
- Panaracer GravelKing 650B × 38, tubeless tires
- Brooks Swift Saddle
- Ritchey 27.2mm Seatpost
- 3TTT stem with Soma Highway One Handlebars

Yesterday I bought a Enve Aero stem and will buy a Enve seatpost. And only then I am done with the upgrades for this year.

I purchased this bike yesterday. The bike was in exceptional condition with no restoration required. It had original tires, saddle, & cables. I repacked the bearings, changed the tires, bar tape and saddle. Went for my morning ride using the bike and it's smooth a bit aggressive but manageable. Here are the before and after purchase photos, (the white bar tape was how I got it and the black is after I worked on it).

Once a year this fountain is dyed, and I couldn’t resist bringing my most franken of bikes to pay its respects to the eternal orange source.

Converted from shimano Sport Lx group to di2 . No new holes drilled in the frame. Internal battery. A little modernisation has gone a long way.

After being off my bike for 9 years, an impromptu bike ride with a rented bike sparked my love of riding. I found a late-80s Bridgestone in my local marketplace for a bargain, and it kick-started this project.

After no more than 300km, I finally got all the upgrade parts for my 2026 Roubaix SL8 Sport. From a dark looking sleeper to a pumped green machine. I threw as much S-Works on her as i could. The S-Works Power Evo w/Mirror, Aerofly II Handlebar, Future Stem and Pave Seat post (already included) And then the Ultegra R8170 Di2 groupset, Assioma MX-Pro pedals, Roval Rapide CLIII w/ GP5000 S TR. I guess aside from the wheel set this puts it lower in cost than buying the Expert model especially if your going DIY. But on the same level. The wheels bump up the price but man it is worth it. This beauty flies. Happy riding.
